The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy | Review Thread + Mini OT

I'll be a little late to the party, but I'm picking this up to play on my pre-ordered Switch 2. I've got too many Switch games to play. DQ III HD2D is consuming my soul!

EDIT- It's waiting for me at my local Gamestop.

Just completed the first run, and now "restarting" the 100 days with the alternate stories
Btw do you know if the alternative routes get all tied up in a true ending?

If I remember correctly, in 999 you had to see a set of endings before getting to the true end. Is it the same here or are the alternative routes just for fun?

Based on my understanding, there are two "true" endings. The first can be accessed directly in the 2nd play through, but the second require you to unlock some other endings.

There was a big sale on playstation this weekend where everything from spikechunsoft was like 80 percent off. I got 8 games, including nonary collection, both sominium files, entire danganronpa set, and all the spinoffs for like 60 bucks total. Then saw rain code+ was half off and picked it up.

Then I was like, I got 99% of the shit, fuck it, lets buy The Hundred Line at full price and make the circle complete. Lol, so I bought Hundred Line physical at full price. I have a lot of games to get thru, hehe. I started the nonary games and the fucking quality my guy. For a DS game this game is actually better than most Ps5 games, lol. Waiting for my treasure to come in from gamestop right now. I'm going 10 games deep and I'm fully satisfied.

I'd have absolutely loved to have played those games for the first time again. Great experiences. Have fun, you're gonna be a busy boy once it gets it's hooks on you

I'm really enjoying the first couple of hours, it's a super entertaining game, and the humor is spot on!

Any tips on what to prioritize during free time? I get the feeling I need to be careful with how I spend it, since, you know… we've only got 100 days

You should try to balance improving the grades and harvesting battle points to improve the characters. Try to spread out improving all of them as the late battles will have you using everyone to defend the schools from all sides.

You can spend your battle points to improve the character, but there comes a point where you have to improve the grade to improve the higher tier skills.

There are 3 ways to improve grade. The best is to gift items (gift given for the first time yield the best benefit). You need materials to craft gifts (collect while you are exploring out of the school). Followed by reading in the library and talking to the NPCs.

Try to evenly level up the characters (except Moko and Eito) as the late battles require you to use all of them to defend the school. Moko and Eito is probably only worth improving after finishing the 100 days initially.

I'm only up to day 18-ish, but damn this game is great! I'm really enjoying it, much to the detriment of playing other things on the Switch 2.

im closing in on 80 hours and its definitely losing some steam for me. There's not enough variation in the different routues and endings, it feels like im just going through the motions with some slightly different dialogue. Im still missing many fragments and components to the overall story so i'd like to eventually find the equivalent of a 'true' ending that reveals all of that stuff, but its taking too long to get there.

It depends on what route(s) you're talking about. There's roughly 20 something routes and, outside of perhaps three, I'd say the rest are all very unique and different enough to be worth experiencing, at least in my case. Of course, you don't need to get through all of them in one go.
