'Incredibles' DVD tells Jack-Jack's story
By Mike Snider, USA TODAY

Super! The Incredibles arrives on DVD March 15 ($29.99, also on VHS) with an all-new animated short that reveals the latent powers of Jack-Jack, the baby of the animated superhero family.

Jack-Jack's Attack chronicles "what takes place at the house with (babysitter) Kari and Jack-Jack while the rest of the family is on the way to the island or on the island," Pixar DVD producer Ann Brilz says. As the story plays out, the toddler reveals his latent powers.

Other extras include an alternate opening, deleted scenes, bloopers and commentary from director Brad Bird, Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson). A making-of-the-film featurette began as soon as Bird came to Pixar to start work on the film. "When he walked in the first time, he carried a camera, and it was rolling the whole time," Brilz says. "We had this great body of footage to draw from."
Sounds like there should be some pretty sweet extras on there. I'm definitely pumped for that commentary track and the behind-the-scenes stuff.

what happened to pixar outakes.

I remmeber not seeing finding nemo in theaters becasue i was waiting till they put he outakes at the end. All their films before Finding Nemo had outakes, it's sad.

Don't know when the R4 release is, but I'll probably pick it up on release day. Pixar DVDs are always really good, and these extras have sealed the deal.

Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo, felt like Pixar was falling into a pattern of familiarity. He didn't want people to constantly be expecting outtakes, as he as a director felt he was making a more serious and poignant film than the past ones, and didn't personally feel they were appropriate. And I agree with his decision. To me, it's best if a company's films aren't constantly held to the same consstant standard of "Where's the outtakes?"

Hyped for the DVD...I'll try to pick it up when it releases. I very welll might be on the other side of the country when it would get here if I buy it online, though, so not sure how I'll work that. Might try to pick it up while I'm there.

The only Pixar movie I've cared about since the original Toy Story. Defintely buying it.

For my fellow Canadians, Future Shop is giving out a free collector's tin when you buy the movie while supplies last.

They should have thought of that before putting outtakes in four movies in a row.

A Bug's Life
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc.

You lose. That's only three (The original Toy Story had no outtakes, they started with A Bug's Life).

A different director wanted a different standard, so he cut the outtakes on Nemo. Not a difficult concept, and I definitely did not go into either film looking for them.
