'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

I don't remember an option to turn down the gore. As for DLC, cosmetic MP pieces & custom loadouts for 4 weapons and 8 survivor skills are gonna be cross buy DLC.

Ok. So if you're in Europe and have a ton of DLC you bought on PS3, then you might want to consider sticking with the European release. Otherwise I can't see any disadvantage either importing from videogamesplus.ca, or buying digital from US PSN for $50

oh my god, never knew you could blow off peoples legs in mp.

It was definitely a huge step up, for me at least.

Not direct replies, but for some reason seeing these two posts near each other made me laugh.

Bumpiest thread in GAF. I´ll chip in.

Inevitably there's always a discussion about x game looking better than Y game. Or about how big it's x improvement compared to...whatever. I find it super hard to establish a guideline that leads to a productive discussion. It´s simply too subjective.

Example: For me and me only, taking TLOU and simply bumping the resolution to 1080 and getting the framerate to 60 is a massive, humongous, difference. But that´s me. I appreciate these improvements way more than any other effect (Motion Blur, Character Models, Lightning, Etc)

Example 2: In my opinion, most PS4 games don´t look much better than Killzone 2/ GOW 3 as a whole. Now, someone will surely come and say: ¨GOW it´s camera restricted hence it´s a controlled scenario and can be further optimized¨ or ¨Textures in Shadowfall shit on KZ2 textures¨. OR, someone might say that GOW/KZ2 were made at a time were developers had more time with PS3 Hardware thus had a better grip on it. Sure..but that doesn´t make me any less right.

I guess that's because it´s impossble to define how good something looks by taking just a few variables. I think it has to be judged by taking everything into account, including art direction.

If someone comes and say: ¨I think the way the lighting and draw distance of Second Son makes it the best looking game of all time¨ Well, he or she would probably be right. Heck, who could honestly prove that Rayman Legends it´s not the best looking game of all time?

Sorry for the long post (or Rant). What´s the point of all this? IM NOT SURE ANYMORE :) ... but I think it has to do with checking our expectations and understanding that these discussions, while they may be fun sometimes... are simply not ¨winnable¨

I took the jump and pre-ordered on US PSN. Got 50 dollar voucher from PlayAsia for 32 pounds. Does anyone know what time the download will become active UK time.

There's no preload for it in the US so if they launch the game it at midnight EDT it'll be available for download ~5 AM your time July 29th. If they launch it at midnight PDT it'll be available around 8 AM July 29th. If it gets released around the normal store update time (~1PM PDT) then you'll get it ~9PM your time.

Is it only the American version that has no restrictions in "Gore"?
AFAIK they censored all Euro versions cause of Germany, so I'm assuming all NA versions should be safe if the US PS3 version was uncensored.

Why do you hope that? I don't remember commenting on it at all, I hope that won't wound you.

I shouldn't have quoted you, but your comment gave me that thought so I reactively quoted you.

My comment was directed at all people who are excited for games like TLoU Remastered and next-gen GTA IV yet shitted on Tomb Raider: DE for costing $60 with just graphical/performance improvements (+ DLC but that was ignored). Granted TLoU is $50 but the price is relatively the same.

Tomb Raider DE wasn't just res and framerate.

Indeed, yet many still badmouthed it saying it was overpriced for what it offered.

So, the OT is going to at least mention something going into Raptor's ass, right?

TLoU is like a GOTY edition though. Did TR have DLC included? If so, was it as significant as what we're seeing with TLoU? And GTA5 looks to have had a total overhaul, with assets being noticeably superior.

Well, I never did.

I shat on WW HD a lot though, it deserves it too.

My usa psn version appears to be censored too. I'm Gnna re download to see if it's still censored. It was downloaded on June 20th 2013.

I don't know what you mean by that.

The difference between last-gen and current-gen is really nothing profound, we've seen no major technical shift at all this time. Last-gen's transition was all about shader properties and a huge increase in geometry density, this time we've had no real graphical changes. We have more particle effects and improved transparencies, etc, but a PS3 game on PS4 is basically on par with the ground up PS4 games. Puppeteer, Beyond, TLoU, GoW, etc, all at 1080p/60fps would look absolutely inline with the 'real' current games we're seeing. TLoU Remastered will look as good as practically anything on the system.

That's just because the so called next gen hasn't even started yet because of cross platform support.
When games like AC Unity, The Order, Witcher 3 arrive on the maket we'll see a really marked difference.

Thanks, hopefully its up before I go to work so I can start it up before I leave.

Just dont buy the game, it isn't for everyone. If it disturbs or annoys you, there are a lot of other games that do not have any gore that you could play. You have a choice not to play it my friend ;)

I think the point is that excessive gore isn't necessary, especially with a story as good as TLoU. It unnecessarily warns off an big group of gamers that would enjoy the game otherwise. I had that issue with TLoU and Bio shock Infinite. Two awesome story based games that were more gory than they needed to be, which is something you would expect from lesser games (which is my opinion, which I know is in the minority).

Ryse, Inframous, and Killzone all gave the next-gen vibe to me

I agree, while objectively Killzone Shadow Fall is a more technically accomplished game in terms of textures, particle effects, shaders, lighting, post processing effects, resolution, framerate etc, I played KZ3 immediately after KZ SF last night and KZ3 still looked great to me!

Who used the word "massive"?
StuBurns did.

But how isn't Tomb Raider a generational leap? It's amongst the best looking games on PS4 certainly. If it's not 'next-gen', nothing is.
Do you consider the same multiplatform games on 360 vs. high-end PC to be a generational leap of difference in outcome?

Edit: We don't need to continue this discussion because clearly you do based on what you wrote.

Interesting that you start with speculation and then finish with pure opinion and condescension. Simply saying, "That's just my opinion" doesn't mean you can just say whatever you want and not be expected to produce something to show your argument has something in it. I can just as easily say that pulling punches would have led to fewer sales, and that "lesser" games routinely display a lack of integrity that I wouldn't expect from a developer of Naughty Dog's caliber. Without something to substantiate those claims, it carries just as much weight as your argument. The key difference is that I wouldn't be asking a group of people to sacrifice the full breadth of their artistic vision just to appease my delicate sensibilities and sense of self importance.

Yeah I guess so but it's just vibes ;)
When you compare them with what lies ahead (Uncharted) you can see how the first year of life of these new consoles has basically been wasted because of continued PS3/360 support and in part developers needing time to learn how to push new hardware architectures.

yeah, i guess we can call them appetizers...

My statement wasn't condescending. I just simply made a brief statement and didn't want to go through my entire rant over it.

When we look at games like Manhunt, it's mainly known for its shock value. Was there more to the game? Yes but it's easily overshadowed. Too much of a particular element can turn people away from some things. Look at how many people complain about how many people Nathan Drake murders in the UC titles. I love the stories in that series but the kill a thousand people does detract from the overall experience. Again, these are my opinions and if you don't agree, it's okay.

Is not like Im sticking stuff into people's ass viciously!!!

Only into mine!!

ROFL!

Jesus Christ, man!

This is fun.

It's not like he can force ass play over the internet...one hopes.

Just adding to the void of insanity and retardation we've slipped into. This is what happens when no new info or footage is given and we're left to our own devices. I've seen it happen in every pre hype thread for major games leading up to release. Bioshock Infinites in particular got zany as fuck.

Not to me. Crysis has been giving next gen vibes since 2007. If you had a decent PC over the years, you were getting a next gen experience IMO

Aside from graphics, I don't see anything in Crysis that screams next-gen. That goes for the games mentioned before as well. Crysis plays like a last-gen shooter.
