Fuck Ocarina of Time, this will be the greatest game I have ever played in the whole history of mankind!!

If this game is not the greatest of all time I will blame a few people in this room and that, that I will not forgive.

It's one of two games I consider flawless. The other is Metroid Prime.

It's not above Ocarina of Time for me, which is my favourite ever, but it's close. I was hoping and thinking I'd love it and that it could be GOTY and it beat my expectations by a lot. Hoping and thinking it'll be the best game ever made with nothing coming close to it though, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Oh man, I have not played anything since the Destiny Alpha and will only play the Beta when it comes out, Im going really fresh to this one.

Have not seen gameplay other than some MP matches, for some reason I find them entertaining with all teh brutality of it and the crafting and all that stuff.

HOLY. FUCK. Hyped...

19 more days.

No. I see where people are coming from with that, but it's not accurate. Socom did not have a radar that gave your position when running, it did not have stupid fucking armor, and it DID NOT have a wallhack unless you were literally cheating.

As much as people will say the LM doesn't have a huge impact on the game, it's bullshit... in the end of the round in Socom, in a tense 3v1 the three players weren't all spamming their xray vision to locate the lone wolf...

It's not like Socom. It could be, but they didn't go after that style of game. They went with radar and armor and perks and all that crap.

It's competitive, and strategic in its own way. But this isn't Socom. No game is, so don't get your hopes up. Better to go into TLoU with an open mind and if you like it, great. But you go in looking for a Socom fix and all you'll see is everything that isn't like Socom.

yeah, should be keeping up-to-date on H-hour for the true next-gen Socom. But I think users where saying it evokes the same feeling of Socom at times, namely, teamwork and smart play.

I'm always surprised about how unknown the multiplayer for this game seems to be. Everyone always talks about the single-player, rightfully so, but the multiplayer is amazing as well. Many don't seem to have tried it. I wasn't too happy about two trophies being tied to multiplayer but I'm sure it at least made some give it a chance and keep at it after they unlocked the trophies.

I never tried it 'cause I borrowed the game from a friend so when I tried to go online I had to pay for a pass. Sorry, fuck that. Thought all those online passes were did away with?

TLoU was the last first party Sony game to use a pass iirc.

expecting a game to be the greatest that ever was because people's impressions.

you are bound to disappointment mate

The game lived up to my hype and it took me a few months to get it. I do agree though, don't hinder your experience with the game by over hyping it.

i loved the game, played through it five times. favorite naughty dog game. But i follow their games since the crash games, so i went in expecting a great game from naughty dog, so i wasn't disappointed, because i really like their style. But if you aren't even a fan and is expecting for it to be the best game of all time, will just hinder an experience that could've been incredible.

That's true, but the game is good enough to live up to those expectations I think. It's an exceptional game

I guess. I wasn't a big ND fan before TLoU (still haven't played UC3), and this has become my favorite game. I agree with you mostly. I think TLoU is good enough on its own to win people over even if they aren't ND fans, or have yet to play other ND games.

What killthee said. There's no more online passes but there was one for The Last of Us on PS3

Sorry...haven't been keeping up with this thread. This game is $60, right? It's $50 on PSN for pre-order right now. Did I miss something?

It was absolutely brutal for me on grounded.
I was letting them come into the first area so I could get ammo off their corpses and retrieve arrows, still ended up with 3 arrows and 2 rifle bullets going into the second part of the encounter. So many deaths. Eventually managed it by heading back into that rickety bridge/walkway after a certain point in the fight. Couldn't believe it when I finally dropped the bloater

Once I beat that part on Survivor I considered myself basically done the game. Nothing is near that difficult afterwards.

Eaaasy there. While I love TLOU and completed it three times, I still consider Ocarina of Time the only perfect game I've ever played.

My 2c on the graphics: from the (disappointingly little) we've seen of actual rendered footage, the port seems more about taking advantage of the PS4's to render The Last of Us generally as we know it with greater clarity and performance. Not online someone playing on a somewhat dated PC, doing an upgrade, and then being able to crank up the resolution, texture quality, filtering, etc. It is, in many ways, the same base game, but the increase in processing power allows for a natural increase in rendering resolution, the use of higher quality assets made during production, better filtering on shadows/aliasing etc, and of course improved average framerate.

It is a true "HD port" in the same way that a lot of lot of PS2->PS3 games were, and provides the best "experience" for the given assets and their made quality.

The difference between TLoU: Remastered and something like, say, Wind Waker HD or Halo 2: Anniversary is that the latter seem to involve more drastic overhauls of rendering systems and/or assets that more closely constitute a "remake" instead of a HD port. Wind Waker reused most assets from the GCN build, touched up textures, but completely overhauled the lighting/shadow engine (for better or worse) that on a technical level accomplishes stuff that was never in the original build (like ambient occlusions). Halo 2: Anniversary is a new engine and totally new assets, even if mechanically the base game plays the same way.

Some of this may be true for TLoU: Remastered and we just haven't seen it yet, but I tend to look at this port less like the above two examples and more like Resident Evil 4. Improvements have been made, some artistically others through nature evolution of technology, but it's not a true remake or asset/engine overhaul like some ports/remakes have. It's taking the base assets and rendering of The Last of Us and dialing all these qualities up to better suit the PS4 hardware. That is an improvement and will be a clear one when playing, and TLoU already looked outstanding on the PS3, but expecting a massive, full "next generation" graphical showpiece is perhaps a bit unrealistic.

I'm just fucking stoked that I'll be playing a 60 fps Naughty Dog game.

I'd personally be satisfied with just higher res and models but if it turns out to look even better than I imagined, that's super gravy.

I agree with EatChildren, which is why I think they called it a Remaster. It's a pretty honest name for what this is. Still, I think that 1080/60 TLoU with improved textures, AA, and models will look pretty damn good overall.

Well said. I agree. The shots we have seen so far indicate that it is a "remaster" in the true sense of the word.

EDIT: Damn you, Roboplato. Now my post has nothing new to add! :/

This is perhaps what frustrates me most about Naughty Dog: they craft quality, underrated multiplayers but don't market/develop them to the extent they deserve. And sure, some of that is resource allocation or that they are simply sticking-to-their-guns (by keeping their acclaimed SP experiences front and center) in a sense. But it is still disappointing to continually see all this unrealized potential. Nothing upsets me more when people go "Uncharted has MP?" or "I didn't know TLOU had an online mode, is it any good?".

I truly hope ND puts UC4 and the next TLOU game in the multiplayer spotlight where they can thrive. After all they did say they wanted to "compete with the big boys [in the MP space]" before UC3 released. I would sincerely like them to succeed.

This makes sense. I don't know uncharted had multiplayer until I played the game and noticed it did. While I didn't have nearly as much fun with uncharted MP compared to TLoU MP I still enjoyed it. TLoU MP is definitely superior.

Yep, apples and oranges really. I love both, though I have been more attracted to TLOU due to the fact that it feels more... "fresh" and perhaps even oldschool in some regards (though that might sound contradictory).

It's just unfortunate that these games haven't been able rise to the level where they can rival some of the MP juggernaut. I know for a fact that there is/would be huge interest in UC/TLOU multiplayer and have tried to work with their communities on events as much as possible. Fingers crossed that ND capitalizes on opportunities it's missed on so far.

Not trying to start a war here, but I think it's because of skill.

The big annual MP games, CoD, BF, both FPS are simple. Now, I'm not saying those games are easy, by any means they're not, but the concept is just... Simple, is the only word that I can think of to describe those games. Where as in TLoU MP is more complicated. One person cannot take on the entire enemy team as it happens in CoD and BF. Teamwork is expected to have a successful match.

Hey guys, I know this isn't exactly the right thread to post this, but the other TLOU threads are dead and I can't make a new one, so..

I was playing grounded mode and had made it about 70% through the game, when I get a multiplayer party invite and I join. Later, I go back to select the single player to continue playing when I notice that instead of Lakeside (where I was) it says prologue. I get really confused and go and load my latest save, but it still takes me to the prologue. It also says under that save that I'd already played for 11 hours, so I know it's not me messing up. What can I do?

Edit: I also looked to see if it would let me load from that chapter, but none are there. All the cinematics have disappeared, also.

Same here. I don't think this will be Tomb Raider level of upgrade but will still be nice regardless. Maybe I'm just lowering down my expectations so I won't get disappointed. It'd be nice if I were to be proven wrong though and it turns out the game receives an overhaul of both polygon numbers and upgraded textures. But from what little I've seen so far it's not really the case.

Try picking up from chapter select.

Not necessarily, Uncharted plays a lot like Halo for example (in its overall balance and "feel"). TLOU definitely has a bigger emphasis on intrinsic teamwork, but I wouldn't call it confusing or overly complex at all. I've seen skilled players ace entire teams often enough to appreciate what it takes to accomplish such a feat.

I have no doubt that the core gameplay and raw appeal of these titles contain the formula for main-stage success, they just need a little more focused support.

..sorry it's so small, this host won't let me upload bigger unless I upgrade to premium lol

Hmm... My last idea would be trying loading a different save file, then back to that one and see if it works.

I agree with this. I've heard far too many people blatantly ignore TLoU MP for various reasons. And quite frankly they're missing out on a great experience.

When you go to load file, how many files are there? Do they all say prologue?
