"Now, the Modern Age Flash (Wally West) and Green Lantern (Kyle Raynor) have been called to save the lives of their mentors. In the alien's dimension, the Modern Age Flash teams with the Golden Age Green Lantern (and vice versa) to battle the alien menace before it can take over the planet.
Unfortunately, there are two problems. 1) The Modern Age Heroes have somehow switched identities and 2) The Golden Age Flash is dying from his own hyper metabolism eating away at his body."
I really doubt that it has much to do with what is going on in the show. I think it was manily there for the polar bear in the comic. I think the polar bear being on the island was a result of the kid seeing and thinking about it. I think the same thing is going on with the dog. He thinks about the dog and there is a dog roaming the island.
