Don't really care about the series, but delisting is such a lame part of digital. Hopefully for the people that care, they're going to do some kind of surprise remaster.

Probably licensing/IP troubles at some level. Certainly couldn't be based on content with the stuff Steam sells now.

You wouldn't think so. Just hope the publisher isn't trying to yank it as some form of virtue signaling bullshit.

Got to be some sort of a license question, but then again, nothing on GoG so far and they have same games.

IP is currently owned by codemasters.

maybe it is tied to their financial problems/layoffs and they are putting the IP up for sale as part of their downsizing. hence removing it from sale in teh interim.
God damn EA.

And nothing of value was lost.
Hoping that is sarcasm.

Sierra Online adventure games are all classics, especially the early DOS ones.

I have very fond memories of playing Space Quest, Police Quest, King's Quest, and even Leisure Suit Larry as a kid.

I think I probably still have the original boxes and discs for most of them somewhere.

I remember playing the first Leisure Suit Larry on my dad's IBM PC in his office at work decades ago. I was into Amiga at that time, but the game was too much fun to stay away from.

That makes no sense considering one of the games being delisted is from 1987

Steam's 2hr refund policy doesn't work for games that exist as a really great concept and box art.
Larry's contribution to gaming has been disappointing generations of boys who would grow up to design video games.
Somewhere between M-rated Larry and AO-rated BoneTown is a wonderful theoretical AO-rated Larry game that lines up perfectly with the box art Larry games have always had.

Man I remember when my uncle had a Compaq, I must've been like 10 or so. I stumbled across LSL, thought I was about to see some wild lewd shit. Big disappointment.

So yeah, nostalgic, but not that good nostalgic. Won't be missed.

BUT, if something like King's Quest from them old Sierra joints ever disappears from the internet forever? I'm pourin out liquor. Ok I'll probably be dead because I do have them on my hard drive and would share. Guess I should poor it now huh.

Sad to see games disappear.

I have almost all of them on a hard drive. I'm sure others do too so, it's not going away. Maybe I should add the internet to my will and say they get all the games my estate can legally share for education purposes or whatever law protects them. lol

You're right. LSL1 in particular is an absolute classic.

My comment was in jest and more aimed toward the later entries as the franchise devolved into trash. If Steam were the only place the games were available, this would be unforgivable. Fortunately Sierra's classic adventures remain available through many other channels.

So are these games just going back to being abandonware?

LOL, my wife used to play the first one. Her parents really didn't approve.

Leasure suit larry 7 set sail for love was pretty fun as a kid
Yeah it was. I still remember the sniffmaster 3000 (or whatever it was called). :D

First one was good too. I never really played the other ones. The new ones weren't great.

I wonder if they will be still available in GOG.com.

I never really got into any of the Sierra adventure games for some reason... I have heard good things about the Quest for Glory games, though.

Compared to LucasArts they are somewhat of an acquired taste i would say. Mosty due to how difficult they can be and fondness for killing you for no reason whatsoever.

I have heard about some Space Quest games being particularly nasty in that regard. I guess if these deaths can only be avoided via trial and error, it would annoy me.

There is a reason why "have a nice death" tend to be a tagline for their games. The "fun" is often finding out in how many brutal and stupid ways the game can kill you.

Most even have a way of dying within the 10 Seconds of starting it (Walking out on the road next to you and get run over in one of the Leisure Suit Larry ones, Go into an alley next to your starting position in one of the Police Quest ones and get shot)

The original dos Sierra adventure games were amazing, glad I grew up during that era. In my opinion, they lost the magic when they switched from the parser interface to point n click, though I'm probably in the minority with that.

I remember secretly playing Leisure Suit Larry 1 - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards when I was very young. It was funny and I didn't really know what to do.

All I remember is you had to tell a guy "Ken sent me". And if you bang the prostitute without a condom you die from AIDS eventually. Was funny as hell. If you typed "Fuck you" to the priest in the church, the priest replied "Same to you buddy". Funny game

Larry 7 is awesome . Great writing and puzzles. Legendary easter eggs.
And the Liar's Dice set piece is the hottest thing in any video game.

I have it on GOG, I will get the exe today and save it because you never know with these people.
