(I never found it that annoying...and that's with the occasional double play, it just fit in the ridiculousness of the game for me I guess)With a code you can unlock a secret ship: the cat from Uo Poko, Cave's arcade puzzle game from the same year as Dangun Feveron. At the title screen, hit Down, Up, Right, Left, Up, Down, Left, Right. You'll hear a sound if you did it right, so hit start. You should know what you're getting into, though... this ship is faster than the maximum speed of the other ships, and you have no bomb or special shot. Instead, the bomb button will switch between the three types of spread shot. You might not miss the bomb or special shots much since the cat shoots extra powerful, erm... squids? However, with no way to freeze the cyborgs you'll have to rely on that extra speed to catch any that get away. One last thing, the Uo Poko cat is NOISY. He will meow every single time you hit a direction on the stick. This can get extremely annoying. The meowing also cuts off the announcer mid-sentence. How much nuttier can this game get?
An article on Dangun Feveron wouldn't be complete without mentioning the excellent time attack mode. It isn't exactly a secret, since it is mentioned during the attract sequence, but it might still be easy to look over. Just hold shot and bomb before you hit start to play a time attack game. You have unlimited lives, and three minutes to get the highest score. Unlike the rest of the game, this stage takes place on land, and there are a few other differences. Mainly, you want to be looking out for yellow posts in the ground... if you move over these, they will stand up and can then be destroyed. They will add 5 to your count and are also worth five successive kills. Time attack is another thing you won't find in most Cave games, but it really should be more common, if Dangun Feveron's is any indication. When the main game is giving you grief, this mode is a nice way to take a load off. It's still frantic but lots of fun.
Yes, it is. I think it's around 7200 yen.
I briefly enjoyed the PS2 port, but I wanted to actually play the game and get good at it. Being such a huge fan of armed police batrider and battle garegga, I thought the deal was too hard to pass up![]()
ibara full kit on the way
this has become an obsession -_-
I also made a connection for ESD protective ULine boxes as one of the shmups users is going to buy in bulk and sell me a couple. I think part of the addiction is how great and convenient of a resource the shmups b/s/t forum is.
One of the worst decisions IMHO, Deathsmiles is one of my favorite Cave games.
best gaming bundle pack ever. I still haven't 1CCed MMP nor PS arrange which is on my current "to do" list.I received Muchi Muchi/Pink Sweets 360, but haven't had a chance to play them yet. Neither of those games seem to have any ill will intended with their themes IMO.
I had an extremely easy time modding my VX-SA with an LS-56-01 and PS-14-KN buttons. Probably took me 20-30 minutes total. $130 isn't necessarily cheap though..
welp, the KAI wasn't available when I first bought the VX-SA, but I believe the spacing between the stick and the buttons is a little bit further apart on the revision (which is excellent imo). I don't like how the art looks compared to the original, but you can always change thatOof. Yeah, I'm hoping not to spend $130, since I already dropped $60 on parts. Thanks for the heads up, though. The VX-SA is a nice looking stick. Is there any difference between the regular model and the KAI?
I really enjoy Deathsmiles, also one of my favorite shmups. I don't see the characters as sexualized.
Aside from being advertised as "loli", which is a sexualizing term in and of itself, it shipped a "BDSM edition" that included lingerie with a game character on it, official art (including the game's cover) features characters in sexualized poses and flashing panties, etc.
I'm not being down on you for liking the game if you do, but I don't think there's a reasonable interpretation of the characters as anything but sexualized.
The BDSM edition doesn't exist. It was an April Fools prank by Aksys (so, like the "loli" marketing, it can't be used to gauge creator intent, as Aksys was only a licensee).
Aksys's marketing is 100% based on the way the characters were already depicted. They weren't inventing anything, they just ran with it.

Received this today, from an amazing girlfriend who went through the trouble of finding the first print DLC for me!![]()
Progear's steampunk style would probably be my favorite tho.
I was browsing AmiAmi and noticed that theres two listings for the regular version of Dodonpachi Saidaioujou. Is the one with the exclusive bookstore card the cheapest I can get it? Still wondering since I might be able to squeeze getting the game in my budget.
Yeah, looks like it. Their version with the card is cheaper at the moment. Same game. That does come with a pretty hot card (best character and best outfit!).
Just my luck, when I woke up today, its now sold-out. Guess I'll have to wait again before I can buy the game. Play-Asia is still too expensive and my local customs are going to put a hefty tax on it. Oh well, I can wait, but its going to be even more troublesome if I get it by the holidays.
STGWeekly covered Deathsmiles last week, it's a very informative watch and I highly recommend it to those who have had this game for a while but not fully understand how the scoring system works.
