Were those in Nintendo Power? If so, I had stopped subscribing by the time that came out, but I do remember when NP first started comics. It was around the time of the intro of the SNES, and they had Mario and Zelda comics. At the time I really resented those comics because they took away space that could have been used for walkthroughs or something more worthwhile. I went back and re-read them years later, and the Zelda comic wasn't too bad (didn't quite follow LttP's story though). The Mario comic still stank pretty badly :)

There was a Metroid Prime comic in Nintendo Power that was done by Dreamwave studios. The graphics whores would be proud!

I would love a Metroid title where you're given a mission and you have to fly to a planet and explore huge, open areas. The city in the comic would be so cool in game. Land, hop out, explore. Random enemy encounters, hidden powerups everywhere. WHEE!

See...I KNEW Samus was promoted as a blonde from the beginning. I used to argue this with people at other forums (NN & Planet GCN, etc). They swore up and down that Samus was originally a brunette, which I know wasn't true and those olden comics I remember seeing and I remember her being blonde all the way from the beginning. Not that those comics are anything official or anything, but...ya know. In the original Metroid game Samus appeared with alot of different hair colors:
-brown (after you beat the game fast and start a new game right away she's out of her suit with brown hair)
-red (when you progress without the suit to get missiles and you select missiles)
-yellow (JUSTIN BAILEY code, or if you progress further in a new suitless game until you get the Varia suit)
-green (JUSTIN BAILEY code with missiles selected, or if you progress further in a new suitless game until you get the Varia suit and select missiles)
-orange hair (in end credits when you beat the game fast enough or when you beat it using the JUSTIN BAILEY code)

She has to be blonde (if you wanna get technical) 'cos that would be the easier color to change to brunette, red, strawberry blonde or green. Plus she was a blonde at the end of Metroid II (I know...yellow pixels on a monochrome GameBoy isn't blonde, but it certainly isn't a dark hair color). And she's been presented as a blonde ever since. And look at the other two notable Nintendo heroines...Peach & Zelda...all three of these Nintendo heroines have blonde hair and blue eyes! I'm not crazy...SEE...I have proof now...

How does that ant thing hold its gun AND walk?

Hamfam lives!!1! You remember me??? From NN??? Remember that argument I made about Samus being a blonde??? Remember???

Anyways...that's a "Side-Hopper" so I guess anything's possible. No...that comic was SUPER generic...look, even the lil' Zoomer has a gun??? HA HA HA. And they took the hilarious concept of the Mother Brain from this comic and put it in the Captain N show I sware!

I always found it more amazing that they got Shotaro Ishinomori -- one of the most famous manga artists of the 20th century -- to do a Zelda comic for Nintendo Power. It was one of the last things he did before he died, even.

I have all of those downstairs in my basement, I never got rid of my NP issues from back then. I believe I still have every issue from 1 thru 120something.

What about the Star Fox comics? Unless they were never released in the US, but they were pretty cool, think that one even enlightened on the disappearance of Falco.

I loved those Zelda comics! I never got to the end of the strip, though, cause my nintendo power membership ran out.

I actually bought the entire comic series. Wal-Mart was selling the book for $5. Nice deal.
