The Muppets are teasing something...

The Muppets are teasing a major and important announcement soon, but that’s it:

I’m a huge Muppet fan and would love to see something new...but a legacy dump on Disney+ would be great too!
The original Muppet Show
Original Muppet Babies
Muppets Tonight
The Jim Henson Hour (even if it’s just the Muppet half since Henson Productions still owns the Storyteller)

So, Muppet fans, what do you think it could be?

Update from Kermit:

Update 2: The entire Muppet Show and movies, except for the two movies owned by Sony, will be on Disney+ next month.

Here’s hoping that this is the start to Disney getting the rest of their catalogue on there.

Either they're making fun of the Twitter accounts who tease major announcements without saying what it is.

Or Disney+ is adding the restored Muppet Christmas Carol...after Christmas.

I saw the Muppets Christmas Carol at theaters with a friend in middle school and we remember the song being there. Disney claims that they have released the theatrical version, but The Love is Gone is not included. This is why I still have the laserdisc version of this movie since it’s the only letterbox version of the film released on home video.
I would love to have an HD release of this movie with the song included.

Woke Version of the Muppet Show. Miss Piggy has taken over, divorced Kermit and wont let any other man take her spotlight lol

That was actually the plot of the ABC series The Muppets a few years ago. Kermit and Piggy broke up, Kermit moved on at first, and for a brief moment, Josh Groban tried to take over the show from Piggy. She ended it with him and eventually the series ended
on a cliffhanger where Pepe tries to make them fall in love again.

I really liked that series and really wished that ABC hadn’t canceled it.

I'm a big fan too but Vogel isn't the best replacement for Whitmire or Henson on Kermit in my book.

Agreed! That’s why I’m hoping for a huge Disney+ release of their old material. I know there are a bunch of licensing issues, but with the resources Disney has, I would love to be able to see the old stuff again in a higher quality than the VHS copies found on YouTube.

They‘re putting the complete version on Disney+ in 4K.

DVD version has both theatrical (widescreen only) and "extended" version (full screen only) with the Love is Gone song. Which bothered me for a while but at least its included.

For sure, I only just discovered this one over the Christmas break. Shame it got only one season, I really liked the format. I tried checking out the next one where they are streaming the show but it's not the same, focusing mainly on the skits. The funniest stuff on that ABC Muppets was all the stuff happening between the skits.

It was great until they got rid of Bill Prady (the Christmas episode) and tried to undo all the work he put into the characters.

The only parts that were funny about them bringing in the character from the network (his name was Pizza, which was really dumb) was the part where Key & Peele react to him being on the show and when he buys the writing staff new suits. Otherwise, the second half of the season just pales in comparison to the start.

I also updated the OP with the announcement of the original Muppet Show series and movies, except for two movies (Muppets from Space and Muppets take Manhattan) coming to Disney+ soon.

I think you may have misread the announcement. Disney Plus is not getting two movies, not two episodes. It is not getting Muppets Take Manhatten or Muppets From Space because they are owned by Sony. Disney is getting all five seasons of the Muppet Show.

You’re right I read it thinking they could not secure the rights to a couple of episodes. It’s kind of like Muppets Tonight being on YouTube, but the episode with Prince was taken down due to the copyright holder removing it. It had to be Prince, or his estate, since all of the other episodes are still up.
