so i logged in today and it said something about linking all my profile information to various pages...i stupidly said 'yes' and now it looks like this mess:

how the hell do i change it back? it even automatically corrects things (ie in my movie section i had '3-iron' and its changed it to 'brandon irons' :lol)

that doesn't work. it gets rid of the information but it doesn't revert to the 'old' profile style (ie static text in simple lines).
 
Ah I see, so it's based on your info. Seeing as my interest and hobbies are just one liners like "crap all" I'm not surprised I didn't get a message.

I hope they fix this for Jake, he's been consulting multiple messageboards as well as his own Facebook to get this fixed. His diligence should not go unrewarded.

If I deselect everything on

I see this message:

"You are about to remove this information
If you don't link to any Pages, the following sections on your profile will be empty:
Work and Education
Current City

Likes and Interests"

So, if I decide to not link to this new form of interests, my information is removed? WTF? :lol

Fuck it, I'll just live with seeing that first message. I just hope Facebook doesn't automatically opt-in for me :lol Who am I kidding, they probably will :lol

I haven't noticed any changed profile pages. I have noticed a bunch of people / groups whining about how they have to now 'like', and not 'become a fan of' things, though.

Fuck it, I just took all that shit off. I only use FB for my real friends and a few groups anyway.

Fucking FB taking privacy options away is getting old though.

I can't say I've been bothered a lot with this kind of stuff, but whenever they suggest a change when I log in, I opt for "keep things as they are now", because it's never quite clear wtf they want to change. Afterwards I do some looking around what they were asking, and then I decide on it.

But yes, facebook is very insistent on their (privacy) setting changes.

Mods banned a guy the other day for using his detective skills to know the address of Garry Whitta from a picture he lived.

the lesson is if you are gonna stalk this guy dont mention it on GAF.

I really hate what Facebook has become and prefer the early days when it was only uni students. It looked much better and you never heard of rapists on it(not to say there werent any) or houses being trashed
 
Facebook has everyone by the balls now.

I'm seriously wanting to delete my account, but then I remove contact with a ton of people, including family.
 
Simple solution, just put all your interests in one string. Ie. Music-Cooking-Sports-Shopping-Dancing, the system won't be able to break it apart or find a matching group.

So, I'm trying to edit my account to do that & if I click "Edit Information", Facebook automatically redirects me to

http://www.facebook.com/connections/edit.php

FUCK

So, I tried going to https://register.facebook.com/editaccount.php (thinking the settings were moved there) & couldn't find anything new on there.

So, itt looks like there's no way to edit the information on your account until you ACCEPT the new connections bullshit >_< Fucking sonofabitch >_<

I went to sleep like 5 minutes before it and evidently completely slept through it. Fittingly enough for this thread, I only found out about it when I logged onto facebook and every one of my most recent events were in some way related to the damn thing.

On the topic of Facebook. I have an issue with the settings that's pissing me off! Basically I don't know what I did and now whenever I post link or YouTube videos through Facebook or external sites it only shows the stuff in my profile and not in the news feed, which means none of my friend can see anything I do unless they go to my profile, it's really irritating me. I never get any feedback or comments on anything I post. The only thing visible to all is the "what's on your mind" thing.
 
No surprise here. I'm glad I deactivated my Facebook, but I'm starting to wonder if I should have just deleted it instead. Facebook is only going to continue to abuse users' privacy in the future.

I'm really starting to dislike facebook. Can someone tell me where the hell is the link to get to the application directory?

When I click the applications link of the left side, all it takes me to is applications I've used, or ones my friends are using.

I've already ditched myspace. I'm not a huge fan of twitter. Now facebook is | | that close to being ditched.

sure. however, what I said and what others get banned for are seperate. No mod is going to ban me for saying that he's publicising way to much info.

I think facebook really needs to find a way to clean itself up. There are so many stupid fan pages that clutter up the main walls.
