The Official NeoGAF "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Hello folks! I'm Madoka76! Based on the US East Coast :)

Been recently lurking here but I've known about Neogaf for years. I mostly play exclusively on PC (and I'm a Linux user 😢) and I really only play on older consoles like the 360, 3DS, PS4. I enjoy classic anime, VHS collecting, metal of any kind, and old Sega arcade racers !

Thats about it really :P looking forward to chatting with fellow gamers!

Hey I am Marty.

Finally pushed myself into realizing one of my dreams which I am trying to share with the world now.
Got a cat and a 4 month old english cockerspaniel pup.

Hi! Fellow europeasant Spanish 80's kid here, who started with an Atari 2600 and LCD handhelds ("maquinitas" as they were called at the time) and nowadays mostly plays on PC and Switch. I also did a bit of professional game development in Unity some time ago (not for big companies or anything, they were therapeutic videogames) and right now I'm trying to learn Godot for personal projects.

I've been lurking for years (decades?) and finally decided to join aboard to spread nonsense and madness.

I play almost every type of games, my favorite genres being 2D beat'em'ups, RPGs from both West and East, and coop games; I'm a total disaster at fighting games, though. Oh, and I absolutely love Dark Souls and their derivatives, so, yeah... I'm one of those to blame for all the soulsjunk that plagues everything.

Hey there guys, I have lurked this forum for a while now and finally decided to join! I love discussing announcements and events like Nintendo Directs, State of Plays and the Geoff usual shows. My main platforms right now are the PS5 and the Switch 2, had 300 hours into both in 2025, but I play a bit on Steam and Xbox too. Expect me to be active on the following weeks when we get the usual events and sometimes in Famitsu sales thread too, I'm a huge fan of japanese games so I like to see how such a regional market performs.

Hope we all can get along well!!

Hi members, both new and old. ;)

We've set this imaginatively titled thread up as a friendly, welcoming space for people to just say "Hi" and maybe share a few words about themselves. This was my introduction from the thread we created for staff members, it doesn't need to be anything of that size though, anything would be great.

Maybe tell us what sort of games you like, what games your looking forward to, what non-gaming things you're interested in and maybe even a little bit about your choice of avatar.

REMINDER: THE DEFAULT AVATARS WILL BE REMOVED SHORTLY SO YOU'LL NEED TO UPLOAD ONE VIA YOUR ACCOUNT AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PAGE OR REQUEST A CUSTOM AVATAR HERE - Official NeoGAF Avatar Request Thread (work in progress)
We actually have several hundred brand new members that have just been joined up (Neophytes), I've added a few links below so that newer members can find their way to threads that may be of use to them.

------------------------------
BASIC MEMBERSHIP TYPES

There are three main types of membership on NeoGAF which I'll give a brief overview on below. You may also see other types of members in the community but these are the "standard" membership types.

Neophytes - The absolute newest of members.
  • Unable to create new threads. (Neophytes can now request to have a thread created on their behalf, follow this link for details.)
  • Unable to send messages using the NeoGAF messaging service. Able to receive messages though.
  • Unable to edit own posts after five minutes.
  • All posts are unpublished until a member of staff validates and publishes the posts.
  • Unable to enter NeoGAF Giveaways.

Neo Members - Have been seen to contribute positively to the forum.
  • Unable to create new threads.

Members - Have demonstrated a sustained positive contribution to the forum.
  • No member restrictions.

Although number of posts are also a factor in people moving from one type of membership to another, the reason we're not listing specifics is because it isn't solely based on that so somebody who has contributed positively could well be moved earlier than somebody with twice as many posts. Don't spam posts and expect to be moved earlier because it's very easy for the move to be delayed if we see that you're having a negative effect of the community.

Although being a full Member is permanent, in the general sense, it is possible for people to have rights removed if its deemed fit by the team. This would be unusual but it certainly isn't unheard of.

As some may already have noticed, we now have a Giveaways Tab at the top of the page, we're currently hosting our first giveaway and it's very much a work in progress but each individual giveaway can be set with a required minimum membership level rather than there being an overall requirement, so it's always worth checking there. Neophytes will not normally be able to enter though but as this one is a bit of test run for us, it is actually possible.

If you are a Neophyte and are wanting to contact staff for something and it isn't appropriate to use the Report Function (Reporting inappropriate posts) or the Error Reporting & Feedbackthread then you are able to do this using the Contact Us tab at the very bottom of the page or by using this email address - support@neogaf.com

Although you may find that you have more or less privileges than other members with different membership types, it doesn't mean that one type of member has authority over other members, it's not a rank and should never be treated as such.

------------------------------

Welcome to all members and thank you all for your contributions here, there's been a lot of support from the community here recently and we all hope that the you will lead by example for the new people rather than just relying on us to tell people what to do.

USEFULL THREADS

FEEL FREE TO USE THESE THREADS, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR.

MOD NOTE - For your first post dont just put "Hi" or "Hey" or "Yo" or something. We get a lot of bots so to distinguish please make your first post at least a sentence to show you arent a robot. And we can learn more about you that way! Thank you.
Hey, i'm Ryu from My Esport !

hi folks :) im from austria. used gaf as a source of gaming news since user here are often very quick to report, so i thought why not register, and now i realize it highlight threads i have not seen yet which is great.....i could have had it for years.. nooooooo:messenger_hushed::messenger_beaming:

Hey everyone. I've been reading NeoGAF on and off for years and finally decided to register and join the discussion.

Mostly into PC gaming these days, but I keep an eye on console news as well. I enjoy following announcements, industry talk and seeing how people react to things as they happen here.

Looking forward to taking part in discussions and learning a few things along the way.

Howdy!

My name is MirageOdyssey. I love PlayStation. Love to play story FPS, RPGs, and third person action adventure basically selective games. Though I can't handle dark souls type of games 😂.

How's it going Gaf?

I've pretty new here as a poster, but I've been a basement dwelling lurker for a couple of years now. I'm proud to say I got banned from Reddit for posting in KotakuInAction and being a little too, shall we say, spicy even for that subreddit after only a month of being there lol. I love the overall attitude here way more than other sites like Reddit, Steam forums, and especially RetardEra.

My 5 favorite genres for games in order of preference are:
  1. Isometric/tactical RPGs like Bald Guy's Gate 1 and 2, Pillars of Eternity, the Divinity: Original Sins series, etc.
  2. Turn based JRPG type games like classic Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, Shadow Hearts, Xenosaga.
  3. Dungeon crawlers (just started getting into them more) like Persona, Bard's Tale 4, Labyrinth of Refrain.
  4. Metroidvanias like Bloodstained, Metroid, Axiom Verge, Shantae series.
  5. Platformers like Mario, Astro Bitch, and Spyro.
Aside from gaming, I also like reading and I recently started getting into anime more.

Hey everyone!

Finally decided to stop lurking and actually register. I've been using GAF as my primary source for gaming news and leaks for ages, especially during the big summer showcase seasons.

I'm mostly a PC and PS5 player. Last year was wild - spent way too many hours in various RPGs and finally cleared some of my backlog. Also recently started revisiting some older titles on my Steam Deck; there's just something about handheld gaming that hits different.

Aside from gaming, I'm into tech, cinema, and following the industry's business side (love those sales threads!). Looking forward to joining the discussions and sharing some "nonsense and madness" with you all.

Cheers!
