Did a search and couldn't find anything, but I know there are plenty of fans here - and some folks have even posted their legendary tales. So why not an official thread?

Tickets went on sale for Ohio this morning, and I had my alarm clock set. As a lifelong fan - I'm really looking forward to seeing these bastards in action.

Who has been?

Who is going?

Oh my word, I had NO IDEA they were coming to Mansfield. MASSHOLES ASSEMBLE! UP THE IRONS!!

Damn it. August 2nd, Greece... of all the summers not to go on vacation to visit my family. Oh well, I'll let my cousin know about it, he's a big fan. He'll find an excuse to close his shop for a day and make the trek to Athens to see Maiden. :D

Thanks for posting this, Bandit.

Excellent! My job here is done. :D

Thanks for posting this, Bandit.

No problem.

This is huge fucking news. Maiden hasn't been to Ohio in several years and I missed them that time because of lack of funds and I was working several jobs at the time. :(

It's a shame, I only happened upon this reading a local Arts rag on the crapper at work. On the radio the "big concert" they're promotion is Poison / Dokken in August. Not that there's anything wrong with that - but dude, fucking Iron Maiden is coming to town in a little over two months - Cleveland ostensibly "rocks", GIVE FACE BITCHES!

I scored tickets close to the stage, but not too close. Last time I had second row seats to a concert and nearly had my face blasted off by Prick (leaving requisite opening for Rorschach). :lol

I am so fucking pumped for this. Maiden hasnt come to Western Canada in YEARS (like, 20 or so - no joke).

CANADA June 6, 2008 Edmonton, AB Rexall Place

I am there. Waited online for the very first second tickets went on sale and snagged mine. Sound crazy? Well, since all 5 of the Western Canada shows sold out in less than 2 hours, I think I am having the last laugh. Seriously, 60,000 tickets in under 2 hours. Fucking nuts. Its actually the top story on Maiden's site right now.

June 6th cant come fast enough.

Oh, and for those not in the know: the best thing about this tour is that a) its composed solely of tunes from their first 7 albums (Self-titled to Seventh Son), which are easily their best (although I wish they'd throw in a dash of Brave New World and A Matter Of Life And Death, personally, but, ce la vie!), AND b) even more awesome is that the stage show is a re-creation of the show they put on during the World Slavery Tour for Powerslave back in 1985. Fucking ACE show. If you dont know what I mean, check out the Live After Death DVD. Thats the 1985 shows, and that is what this 2008 tour is modelled after. Huge Egyptian themed sets, lots of effects and shit, and a huge Eddie roaming around.

I can completely relate dude.

I went to bed at 3AM and set my clock for 9AM so I could get up for when tickets went on sale @ 10AM this morning. I'm not taking any fucking chances. These guys are one of a kind and given their erratic tour schedule this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

This will be guh-reat, I've been waiting for this for so long... they are here all the time, but there's always something that comes up and I miss the show. Not this time though, not this time.
Up The Irons.

Yup, thats exactly what I did. You're in Ohio? Well at least they've been there somewhat recently. For me, it really IS the one time in my life Ill be seeing my favorite band ever, live in concert. I mean, Im 25, and its been 20 years since Maiden has been here (and since I wasnt a fan at age 5, for all intents and purposes, this is the first time they've been here in my life). And realistically, how many more tours do they have in them? 1-2? I cant see them continuing for too much longer. So with them coming to western Canada roughly once every two decades, this is definately it, my one time. Im so pumped that I got tickets.

This is going to be the longest 7 weeks ever. Im so amped though. If they play Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I might just die of happiness on the spot.

Awesome. Great set list! Only problem I have with it is Heaven Can Wait. Never liked that song. And the lack of Children Of The Damned, Phantom Of The Opera, Stranger In A Strange Land, and The Prisoner (my fav underrated Maiden song) is disheartening, but still, its awesome otherwise. Its got my two favorite Maiden songs in Mariner and Hallowed Be Thy Name, so I am not complaining. Kudos for playing Moonchild and Revelations too, both are great underrated tracks.

EDIT: oh snap - NOTHING from Killers? :(

Without a doubt that was the best week of my life. 4 Shows. 5 Days. Wow.

Any fans who are still on the edge as to whether to go or not - GO. You wont be disappointed. They were so amazing, perfect even, it was a spectacle. I managed to win Front-to-the-Barrier for all four shows and it was an experience I'll never forget. I was just centimetres away from Dave Murray and Steve Harris! I locked eyes with Janick Gers and ended up with one of his arm bands!

I can only hope that they come back to Australia. Bruce Dickinson and the Rod Smallwood (Manager) basically confirmed it before they left the country, hopefully they stay true to their word.

ya the problem is there are so many good songs to pick from that its hard to please everyone

i agree on Heaven Can Wait, its a pretty bad song, i would've preferred Caught Somewhere in Time in its place, or Alexander the Great would be pretty fuckin epic as well

revelations is amazing live, too bad die with your boots on didnt make the cut

and i'm a big fan of killers, its probably in my top 2 maiden cds, would be nice if they would play murders in the rue morgue or killers live, instead of the usual stand by wrathchild

I was there. It was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. The setlist was flawless. I thought the Early Days tour had an amazing setlist, but this just blows it out of the water. So much Seventh Son. Awesome. It was a great time. We missed the opening song (Aces High) because we were late (haggling with scalpers, got a wicked deal), so after the show was over we asked the guy beside us what song they opened with. His response? "I don't know any of their songs, this wass the first time I'd ever heard them. THEY WERE FUCKING AMAZING!"

NameGenerated

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
Damn, nowhere near where I live. Maiden is my favorite band too, and that setlist is amazing. I'd have to fly if I wanted to go, but there's no way I can afford it.

EDIT: Actually Columbia, MD is only about 4 hours driving distance from me. Interesting...

Doors open at 6 for my show in Edmonton - 6th hour of the 6th day of the 6th month - The Number Of The Beast! :lol

I saw them in February at the Inglewood Forum (Los Angeles, for those that don't know). It was an amazing show. I got pretty hammered beforehand, and my buddy and I got bacon-wrapped hot dogs afterwards.

Also, has anyone ever noticed that scalpers in L.A. are always black? Not just in Inglewood, but everywhere. I don't think I've ever seen a scalper who wasn't black. Why is this?
