As for the story bit? I was planning on getting one Fall '04 just in time for Jade Empire, KotOR 2, and True Fantasy Live Online... Well, in June '04 GameStop had a trade-in promotion for 30$ off an XBox system if you trade in an used N64, so I just jumped on that. Of course, in the end, Jade Empire ended up getting delayed 7 months, KotOR 2 ended up worst than the first, and True Fantasy Live Online was canned... but sour grapes don't belong in the middle of a circle jerk, now do they?

PDO - Stunningly beautiful. This is the game that sold me on the XBox. Not unlike this:

It's the console that most reminds me of the Dreamcast, sometimes for hazy reasons. Therefore I feel pretty warm towards it.
Well in 2002, a tittle called Rallisport Challenge was previewed on ignxbox and it looked killer. I found out it was to be released in a few weeks in australia so i bought an xbox with RSC, Halo, NHL2002 and i must say that it was the best new console experience i ever had.
I really liked the consoles features and i was becoming jaded with PC gamming, so i dropped the PC side of things. Only recently i bought a kick ass system and i still dont think its any better than consoles. Another discussion etc.

How I came to own it
I remember a radio station was having a contest in fall '02 where if you called in at the right time you got a free xbox. I kept calling in each time they said to call in but I never won the contest. My mom saw what I was doing so she surprised my brother and I with an Xbox on Christmas day.
Do I plan to get an Xbox 2?
I dunno, I think I kinda went overboard this gen with 5 different systems (GC, PS2, Xbox, GBA, and PC games). I want to scale it back next gen because my expenses are gradually increasing while my spare time is gradually decreasing. I would really like to only have 2 systems next gen. I don't plan on upgrading my comp for a long time so PC is out, no more handhelds (especially if Nintendo is just gonna release a DS player/GBA 2 player for Revolution), and so that leaves PS3/Xbox 2/Revolution. Revolution is the only one with Nintendo games so that will be purchased, while PS3 and Xbox 2 are basically the same with a few nice exclusives for each. Whichever of Xbox 2/PS3 has the better permanent exclusive games will be the one I will purchase.
Halo 2 I suppose, although I'm hoping SC3 can top it.

Some might say its an embarrasing thing to admit but I bought my Xbox for Dead or alive 3, the fact my friend was there at the time convinced me to bother with Halo and get a second gamepad.
Currently I own-
Halo - Still decent , even with the shitty levels in the middle of the game
Halo 2 - Better then 1 in every way imaginable, to bad its terrible to play online
Crimson Skies - A fun shooter with decent multiplayer
Mech Assault - Probaly my least favorite purchase, bought it for online which was boring
Capcom VS SNK 2 EO - A good fighter that I suck at
Guilty Gear XX #reload - A good fighter that I'm okay at
Dead or Alive 3 - An excellent fighter that I can beat my friends at
Dead or alive ultimate - same as above but with better graphics
Ninja Gaiden - My favorite game this gen, nice looking , fun stuff
GTA double pack - Entertaining but I'll never finish it
Fable - Kind of fun but I can only play it in spurts
Rallisport challenge 2 - A great racing game with fun online play
Panzer Dragoon Orta - Great looking but too hard for me
Sonic Mega collection + - a great value at 30 bucks, games are still fun
KOTOR- I like things about it but I have a hard time getting anywhere in it

Dead or alive Volleyball- bought it for 70, sold for 40, but I might buy it again for 30, it's a really short diversion that I shouldn't have bought at full price...
Hunter the reckoning- I bought into the preview videos , too bad the actual game was boring as all get out
Jet set radio future- after awhile the game just gets really boring
Stuff I want for the remainder of the year-
Conker live and reloaded - it looks fantastic and I've only ever played a rom of the 64 single player game which was hilarious and fun from what I played of it.
Jade empire- the 100% realtime combat + it's look , it just looks like a cool game
Street fighter anniversary collection- 2 SF games for 30 bucks , I also have an arcade stick to make the game playable so yay.
So far nothing else screams buy me on the xbox , and I'm fine with that.

:lol That's how it started with me, but I never fell in love with Halo like everyone else did. My favorite games for Xbox are mostly Sega's quick-to-the-bargain-bin games, oddly enough.

Xbox is my favourite console, maybe ever, because it allows me to play one of my favourite games online. SFAC over Live is something I've been wanting for 2 years (got into SF3 late) and now that it's a reality, it's almost too good to be true. Can't stress how f'n amazing playing SF3 on Live is.

I was a PC gamer until I first saw a Dreamcast running and realized it looked better than the games running on my PC. I never went back. When DC died, I thought Xbox looked like the spiritual successor, especially because Sega supported it with many great games. I bought the Xbox on day 1 it France. I was then selected by pure random chance to be part of the very closed (20 people or so in France) beta test of Xbox Live, and it just sealed the deal for me. Great times I had, I'm still friends with a lot of people from that beta test. In fact 5 of them included me are have started running or at least writing for Xbox fan sites since the beta ended

I've enjoyed my Xbox since Day 1 when it launched with PGR, a game I needed to have as a fan of MSR on DC.
And it just kept up the excellence from there. Halo, PGR2, PDO, KOTOR, RalliSport, Ninja Gaiden, the Otogis, plus less successful but personal favorites such as Breakdown...topped off with enhanced PS2 variants of favorite games such as Genma Onimusha and the Fatal Frames, and a dash of Metal Slug 3. Never mind the excellent "living-room versions" of PC games such as the Max Payne series.
And it just kept up the excellence from there. The ONLY reaosn I haven't responded in this thread is because my XBox collection is quite large. I'm just trying to decide what angle I want to take. I guess I vould list my absolute favorites, but I may try to give som elove to some god games that got 'dissed' by the main stream back when XBox hate was in full gear (i.e. Enclave, Breakdown, Gun Valkyrie, etc.). I'll try topost something tonight.

How I came to posses one:
I was looking to get one since PDO was announced. And bought one w/ the Sega GT/JSRF bundle. I hate sim racers, and JSRF isnt as tight as JSR, I mean it has excellent graphics but the areas are too big. Same goes for Shenmue 2, I loved part 1 but S2 bored me, I kept losing directions within the game and just gave up. Redesigned controls and upgraded graphics would have helped.
I was losing interest in gaming in general by that point anyway. So initially I did buy it for the Sega support but most Sega games werent upto par, specially Gun Valkyire which is the worst Sega game I have ever played.
But PDO blew me away, and Outrun 2 is just super excellent, these two are definitely two of the best games this gen for me, which makes up for the other Sega dissapointments.
Aside from the Sega stuff, NG, DOA 3/ultimate (I am a pretty big Team Ninja fan), Otogi 1/2 and excellent western 3rd party stuff like PoP/Buffy rounded up the xbox lineup pretty well for me.
