West Point, 1830. A world-weary detective is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.

I watched it this past weekend. It was ok, I can't say too much without being spoilery. The plot relies on a certain.......convenience that may be a deal breaker for some people. It all feels a bit contrived.

Bale is great and so is the guy who plays Poe imo. I felt it was worth the watch for the setting, atmosphere and their performances.

This exactly. My wife and I both liked it. I was expecting something a bit different judging by the trailer but liked it all the same.

Watched this last night and share most of the sentiment. Bale is always worth a watch, Melling was brilliant as were all the cast but it was the 'just so happens' plot that nullified it.

But.. it was worth a watch. I enjoyed it.
