The Patient is a psychological thriller about Alan, a therapist who is held prisoner by patient Sam Fortner who reveals himself to be a serial killer. With time running out, Alan fights desperately to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam's murders or worse – becomes a target himself.

You ever notice comedians tend to do drama well, but dramatic actors don't cross over into comedy as easily? I think it's because humor requires expert emotional intelligence. You gotta understand people's wavelengths if you want them to laugh

Anyway, this comes to mind because Carrell is a good actor

Oh definitely. Look at Robin Williams. One hour photo is home to some spectacular acting.

Jim Carrey has done good serious roles too, if you can look past your expectation of him to do some weird face.

lol this thread has been a goldmine for me, I searched for Beautiful Boy and found two movies, the one with Carell and another with Michael Sheen and Maria Bello, both very interesting premises

Based on the best-selling pair of memoirs from father and son David and Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.

A married couple on the verge of separation are leveled by the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, then took his own life.

Watched the first two eps, it's interesting, and they are fairly short so they go quick. Only complaint so far is they guy that plays the killer, I dunno I guess they are going for something different than a typical psychopath serial killer, but he just seems too nice and normal.

Ted Bundy seemed nice and normal.. Charming, even.

The show is really good, the only complain I have is the short duration of the episodes and that they haven't really done anything that sounds like a real session this far
