The Pitfalls of Ridge Racer 5...by David Crane.

All right, I just picked up a copy of RRV last night, and started it on up, and came to the point where you create a game save on the memory card.

Then I froze.

In the depths of my mind, a snippet of a warning, mouthed by the ghosts of gaming's past, called to me.

Wasn't...or isn't, rather, there a glitch or something in RRV which erases the contents of your memory card? I could find no such information elsewhere, but I could swear I heard this existed around the launch of the PS2.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I think this was with the Japanese PS2/RRV only. I've had my save since launch, and I've played the game almost once a month since then and never had a problem with my memory card.

I have JPN ver of RRV and when I completed the main game (saw credits, etc), it corrupted both RRV & Tekken Tag Tournament memory card icons... But somehow it did not damage actual save files. Both games still played & saved fine.
From what I remember, it was problem with RRV & first gen Sony memory cards. Thought they fixed that problem for US release though.

Arhrhrhrhghgghghghghghgh!

I though this was some new game involving David Crane working on Ridge Racer.

Ah, okay. Japanese early memory card issue, then.

I shall start a game fortnightly, then.

What ever happened to David Crane, anyhow? Man, if only games could still be created by one-person teams and fit into 64K.

I just bought Ridge Racer V for $10 today...your post scared the crap out of me. I better put it on the card that doesn't have my Dark Cloud 2 save, just to be safe. :lol

Yeah? I picked up Ridge Racer V as part of a "buy 2 get 1 free used games" deal they have going on at Gamestop now. I picked up RR5, Devil May Cry, and Rogue Squadron 2, totalling $14.99. Pretty good deal. The cases were pretty trashy, but the instructions and discs were pristine. Cases can easily be replaced, the other...not so much.

Eugh, I hate games that come on cds. Ridge Racer V damn near sounds like it's killing my PS2 when it loads anything. That clicking sound scares the crap out of me...click click click BOOM!

Is it just me, or has there been an abundance of stupidly misleading thread titles lately?

Please stop, people.

I think many would disagree. I quickly clicked on the link, and laughed a bit when I caught the clever tongue in cheek title. +1 Baron.
