Nah I usually eat at parties. And maybe wonder around the venue.

We have much to discuss.

FYI it's one of the reasons why I don't use humans in fiction or prefer them - because I'm reading fiction - stuff of fantasies. I don't want to read something about humans! A slime would be a much interesting subject!

Discussions cancelled.

I've avoided this topic altogether. It's actually scary that grown men want to watch a show for little girls. I remember when the avatarrs started popping up on GAF. I kept on thinking that it must be some joke / meme that I wasn't getting.

I'm fine with letting people be who they want to be. Watch what you want to watch. I just know where my head is. I'm a 31 year old man with a wife a job and a house. I go to work, watch sports / discovery, play video games, drink beer etc etc. I'm not watching cartoons for little girls.

you're boring because you have nothing better to do than complain about nerds on the internet like some kind of senile old man :)

Lol, except I am not complaining merely voicing my opinion about people dressing up at conventions, in the same topic where you are voicing your opinion on people dressing up at conventions.

However because we disagree I am the boring senile old man complaining, while you ofcourse are the exciting rightheous young free spirit.

I was contemplating it, once I heard there would be free stuff there. Then I saw the greasy forest dwellers come out, and my tune changed pretty quick. I like to think that's the part of me that abridges my sanity.

Conventions that aren't game related (which I then call expo's, because, let's be honest, laughing all over those lines of people puring in for skits, and videos and short promo movies (No idea why one can't enjoy those exact same comforts in their own house. I mean, I could understand way back when, when there was no internet, but nowadays? Naw son; that shit just doesn't fly.)
I went to an anime convention once, even though I'm not that into anime but it was the only convention near where I lived for the entire year.

You have not gotten off to a great start when the person you're standing in line to get in says for no reason "The Cake is a Lie", you awkwardly nod and say "Yeah I liked Portal a lot too..." and they promptly respond with "WHAT'S PORTAL?".

It was downhill from there.

I was you about three pages ago. This whole thread was freaking me out. Basically this thread is composed of two types of 'fans'.

Guys who watch the 'new' My Little Pony show which is aimed at a 'family audience' like Spongebob rather than 8 yo girls.

And then there are the _____ who watch it because they 'like' it.

Fill in ___ with whatever you like.

I also go to work full time and watch sports. Today is an NFL preseason game and I'm excited to watch it. There is no real line that can be drawn across fanbases really. If you are a fan, you are a fan. There's no real definition or characteristic of a fan.

Hey it's been 4 minutes and you have not responded to my last pm. I thought we had something. Or am i just another pony thread to you?

I got pepper spray you dirty old man.

Anyways, human ponies are a dirty dirty thing.

I'm going to go look at that for research.

im not the one complaining but im glad you agree

No need to be so tence.

Also, regarding human depictions of the ponies, that just seems like an extension of the "-tan" phenomenon of representing everything as a female character.
I do mean EVERYTHING.

Can't we just split this into 4 groups?

Group 1) People that like MLP because it's a cartoon show about ponies. They favour fantasy themed things over real life, would call themselves a furry and generally like that kind of stuff.
They're easily offended when questioned about their liking of the show and their personalities in general, and take a somewhat aggressive and presumptuous stance on group 4.
They typically like Anthropomorphism, Anime in general, cute cuddly and feminine things.

Group 2) People that watch MLP because they favour it's animation quality/humour over the fact it includes ponies.
They like a good TV show, are favourable to kids shows due to their light hearted and humorous nature, and can accept both sides of the argument here.

Group 3) People that don't like MLP for one reason or another, albeit can understand why people watch the show.
They have no particular interest in MLP, but don't mind people watching/enjoying it for whatever reason.
They do get a little annoyed when it's constantly mentioned by the more obsessive fans, but otherwise keep quiet about it

Group4) People that cannot fathom in any way shape or form why people watch a animated TV show aimed at children.
They don't understand or acknowledge the reasons for watching the show, nor are they open to argument. They take a slightly homophobic stance to the discussion,
claiming that the only reason middle-aged male fans watch the show is because they have a twisted and incomprehensible sexual attraction to the characters.
People in this group have already founded their opinions and will not be swayed, especially not by group 1.
Often found to be saying "MLP is for girls".

Oh, and group 5, my group:

Group 5) Idonnevenkare.

You are complaining. Called me boring, said I was like a senile old man.

Why so defensive anyways? Are you one of those guys on the photo?
lol This is like the fifth time I see someone playing the "why so defensive" card in this thread

He made an observation from your posts. That's not complaining.

I made an observation about people dressing up saying I considered that odd... that's also not complaining.

This thread is no longer about MLP.

It's about what defines a boring person.

PS- This argument is boring.
This thread was always about that, MLP was mearly a ruse, a distraction if you will. It was placed to just bring out boring people and their boring, petty arguments.

Group 4 is the funniest. They spend so much time voicing their opinion on why MLP sucks and why MLP fans should just stop talking about it and how they are horrible people.

Furry and anime together? Hah!

I mean yea sure that'd be acceptable... if it was decades ago!

Is it all right for grown men to watch shows for little boys though?

Only if it was a show that the grown man in question grew up watching.

At least that's the reasoning one of my friends gave me when I consulted him about the whole Pony thing.

A furious Astrosanity just PM'd me because he thinks I accused him of being sexually attracted to ponies.

I never did this.

This thread is madness. Madness I tells you!!!!!

Yes, that's perfectly suitable. The two sometimes (SOMETIMES) go hand in hand. Put simply, if you like Furries then chances are you don't mind Anime either.

Too boring to read.

It's because they find it inadvertently offensive. For some reason they can't live on the same planet as MLP fans.

I am an anime/cartoon fan who likes cute cuddly and sometimes feminine things.
However I am in group 2 as to why I actually like the show itself. I saw the episode with "flutterguy" and found it to be fucking hilarious. I watched the rest and found it similarly fun. I was entertained by it like I am entertained by Top Gear , History channel shows, or various anime series.

Well no wonder Power Rangers Samurai is shit - it's all of your fault for making it feel like crap like MMPR!

a.k.a. it's bias then.

Is it all right for little boys watch shows for grow men?

*points* You can't answer a question with a question!

Thank-you for being honest! You have perfectly justifiable reasons for being in group 2 like you said, and this shows that people aren't restricted to these 4 categories in terms of interests and personality, but at the end of the day you will find yourself favouring one of the 4 regardless.

Group 5 ftw.

Whatever floats your boat man. Just don't come to my house and expect me to have it DVR'ed.

Don't use capital letters if you don't want to but at least punctuate for fuck sake.
In all seriousness are you sexually-aroused by teaching proper grammar on videogame boards? I merely ask since you seem to be taking it very seriously despite being a grown man. Not accusing you of anything mind you.

Also this:
By no means. I'm in my early thirties and I still enjoy cartons but it's the way some people are talking about this show, frankly it's freaking me out a little.

It's just a little weird to me that a 20 yo man (I'm assuming you're a guy) is 'into' this show and even the way your write about it is strange.

Is your love of this show something vaguely sexual? Don't get me wrong I'm not questioning your sexuality (none of my business) but I honestly cannot get my head around the way grown men are talking about My Little Pony.

and this:

Oh please, you are in this thread arguing about my fucking Little Pony not being a great cartoon. A grown man arguing about My Little Pony.....seriously.

is pretty fucking blatant baiting for literally no reason.

You have the right idea.
Let people enjoy what they want, as long as it isn't hurting you.
Can you DVR some Top Gear for me though?

So much pigeonholing in this thread.
