The Problem with Microsoft

Bloated ass dysfunctional corporation. Their services and programs are a disjointed mess. Not to mention all that corruption with political lobbying that allows market-killing acquisitions. I take some comfort in the newer generation using other productive work tools over Windows, mainly iOS. While Apple retains full compatibility within its ecosystem, MS is just a wet fart. I hate that my workplace is using MS. I hope they change that as I now consider MS to be a security threat.

What productivity tools? In the engineering field just forget about it. I own and ipad and iphone, i pondered buying a Mac, it's just isn't suitable. I would like to know what kind of jobs people have they complain so much about MS. Seriously. All of my design/calculation software work great, i can work on any computer without an hitch, i just struggle to think what is so bad to the point of interfering with your "productivity"

Everyone in schools all around the world are being trained up in MacOS and iOS, it's only a matter of time til they hit the work environment and demand change.

There are no problems at MS. Other than their founder hanging out with reputed human trafficker.

Seems like Google Chrome (Chrome os) is also making big leaps in schools. Lots of places using Google class room etc.

This is why no corporation should be allowed to get this big. It does nothing but harm everyone around them plus their customers.

Always a joy to repost this timeless classic. Literally nothing changed since.

He took their money when he needed it. Jobs is right about them though.

He could be describing Apple today, nothing innovative, pedestrian products.

I think the problem stemmed from when Gates handed the reigns over to Ballmer. Then I would say getting rid of QA compounded the issue. Outsourcing everything overseas was the icing on the craptastic cake.

So what is the problem this article highlights?
Seems a rambling post with a few nods to AI and H1B boogeymen, then you have a bunch of people with vague disabilities, then some rambling part where the guy went through 3 laptops in rapid succession, didnt know how to do their job and was on a PiP.
MS certainly have problems but this just reads like the grumblings of someone who got laid off after not doing much work.

Good lord. "Microsoft sucks" threads infiltrating the OT discussions now. Pretty much every company blows. If we made threads about all of them, we'd never get threads about tits and good music/decent tv shows.

Microsoft/Intel will still be king of the workplace, unless Apple & Google are able to provide compatibility for 30+year old applications like Windows supports. I believe the oldest type of applications macOS can run are x86 64bit apps, since Apple removed 32bit support in Catalina.
Google is pretty much in the same position, their technology does not have any long term support and is largely seen as disposable tech for schools. Plenty of businesses still use Windows based software (some even still use Windows 3.11 for critical stuff) and will continue to do so.

Don't even need to read it. Who grows up thinking 'I want to create my magnum opus for a monolithic conglomerate'. Not a single person on earth.

You got the people in Japan and around the world literally probably willing to die to follow up a mythical being like Miyamoto or Iwata.

I'm at a tech company and you can pick whatever OS you want since we have functioning IT that can support everything. Most people are on MacOS. I just use straight Linux, only the EEs and MEs who have specialized software bother with Windows.

It isn't about supporting everything, it's about site licensing. Most IT departments can support everything but not every company wants to mix and match support and site licenses. The bigger a company is, the more they want uniformity as it makes things easier to manage.
