So I am watching RAW, and it occured to me, nobody used the sleeper hold anymore. Whatever happened to this move?

Rest holds are pretty much in non-use now. If they are going to be used, they're usually joint locks rather than bear hugs.

they use the sleeper at house shows. it's very boring on TV and the crowd gets restless which looks bad on tv.

I've always felt sleeper holds were so flipping boring. It's just some dude putting his arms around some some guys neck and that guys pretends like he's getting sleepy.

They were so much better in the old days. Put the guy to sleep and then lift his arm 2 and a half times until you powered out and saved the day.

heh heh, Guillotine choke has more practical aplications for people who don't train. You teach somebody a Guillotine and they can take out most any folkstyle wrestler. At least that's been my experience with it.

But it is easier to explain a blood choke using RNC as an example.

and guillotine choke (with which many fights will be won with very little training for you lazy people)

The choking is more or less the same with a guillotine choke as it is with a rear naked choke. He's obviously not applying pressure to his elbow with his other elbow; it is more likely that he is pulling his right wrist in a direction perpindicular to his opponents kneck with his left hand. The fourth image in the series is most likely unnecesary. Your opponent will likely continue with the takedown, not knowing that going to the ground will increase the effectiveness of the choke. However it is important to control your opponents body with your legs once the fight goes to the ground. It is generally easiest to pull a guard by wrapping your legs around his body.

I always hated that. A 100% chance the guy would lift his hand on the 3rd drop and power out. I remember as a kid in the very early 80's I saw a victory via sleeper and haven't seen once since.

They should throw everyone a curve and let one guy win one day. Maybe make this his signature move.

Well back in the 80s there was the Million Dollar Man (or was that the 90s?) and his finisher was a sleeper hold called the Million Dollar Dream. To this day he's the only wrestler i've ever seen successfully use the sleeper to win matches.

I remember when someone had Road Dogg in a sleeper and he forgot to lift his arm after the ref raised his arm for the 3rd time.
