After searching and searching, last December, I managed to snag a copy of Ecstatica on eBay. It was mailed out to me in december of 2004. After two weeks and it didn't arrive here(NY) from it's destination(TX), I began to wonder what the deal was. I e-mailed the guy I bought it from and he sent me back a tracking number. I tracked the package on their website and it turned out they claim they tried to deliver it a day when I was home all day. I thought maybe they were in a hurry, never bothered to ring my doorbell and didn't even bother to leave a "sorry we missed you" notice(they've pulled crap like this before). I printed out all the info from the website and took it to my post office. The clerk told me they were holding the package but she had no idea where it was now and that it was probably returned to the sender.

So last Wednesday, I get an e-mail from the seller and he says "I know this is going to sound weird, but your package just popped up in my mail marked as unclaimed.". He then sent it to me via FedEX at no charge and a brand new, factory sealed, still in box, shrink-wrapped copy of Ecstatica showed up today. I haven't tried playing it yet as I'm still playing my way through Knights of the Old Republic and Fallout2.

The moral of the story is: The USPS sucks!

i can't recall having a problem with the USPS in general, but my local office is employed by brainless fuckwads. They've locked my PO box early when i've already paid, continue to deliver mail from past recipients, and have had trouble locating my packages. i had a credit card offer from for my dad who's deceased and noted that on the envelope when i slipped it in the "misdirected mail" slot. It came back a week later. i put it in the slot again, and again it came back. i told the clerk at the desk who said he'd take care of it. i kept getting that same damned piece of mail for over a year.

After they allowed my DVDs from the big FreeDVD.com offers last year to be just stolen, I will never trust the USPS again. Apparently, they left a slip since I wasn't there to receive the package, but someone stole the slip. They then proceeded to go to the post office, and without any form of ID at all, took the package. Several complaints later, nothing.

Edit: And that package contained - Indiana Jones trilogy, Back to the Future trilogy, and Bruce Almighty. I did eventually get one package, since it was mailed separately, and since it was only one disc, it fit in the mailbox. So all I got out of that whole thing was Scarface.

My experience with a South Cal to Madrid package using USPS:

-Two months delay (almost loosing our window by a split hair)

-Useless tracking number

-€200 worth of marketing merchandise destroyed

-Braindead employees that couldn't answer even the simplier questions

I am sure there are nice, amicable people working there, but I'll never ever work with that bunch of morons called USPS.

Shit, don't get me started on the USPS.

I had to acquire a student visa to study in Japan in August. Like the 15 other students in the group, I mailed my passport to the Japanese consulate in Detroit. 16 student visas were issued, but only 15 passports made it back. The consulate confirmed that they sent mine out, leaving me to deal with the USPS which, naturally, didn't give a shit that they lost my fucking passport. I had to shell out $400 to get a new one expedited to make the flight the next week, and since I didn't have a student visa (the one issued to me only applied to my lost passport), I had to get one in country.

Except, you can't! I had to fly to South Korea in the middle of my stay in Japan, muddle my way to the Japanese consulate, and get a student visa there. And they still wouldn't give me one. The trip cost $800.

Fortunately, the nice man in Japanese immigration gave me another 90-day visitor's status, which was all I needed for the rest of my trip. If he had given me 15 days as I had been expecting, I would've been screwed further.

$1200 and a shitload of stress, and they refuse to take any responsibilty for any of it. Thanks USPS!!
