The XFL is Dead (Again)

I said it wouldn't last but that was before the pandemic. I don't know if CV played a big part in this or if it was gonna fold regardless.

I don't think a second pro football league will ever thrive, lacking key things I've listed before (Star power, stakes, multiple levels of investment, play to play intensity)

Sucks, I actually watched quite a bit of the season and thought it was pretty good. I wonder if the NFL will adopt any of the ideas the XFL instituted like no extra point kicks and only the option to go for 1,2,3 points via getting to the end zone from different distances. It was also interesting to hear the mid-drive mic of coaches and offensive/defensive playcallers relaying the plays to the QB, as well as quick interviews to some players right after plays happened.

I went to a game and had a great time. Cheap tickets mixed with players you knew were trying their best hoping an NFL team would pick them up made it just fun. I will forever cherish my giveaway rally towel I got at the entrance.

I'm actually sad this time. The first xfl was shit and didn't deserve to survive, but this was actually quite fun and I enjoyed the rule changes quite a bit. Games felt a lot faster than the NFL's and I loves the new kickoff rules. I really think NFL should look at taking some of these ideas for themselves.

I liked the on field product (outside of the QB play which was dire and admittedly that's a big deal) and the rule changes were phenomenal. It really sucks that it never got a full shot to make it due to stuff totally outside its control.

In all seriousness, I completely agree. Outside of PJ Walker, the qbs were pretty bad, but man I was really excited to see how the product would evolve over the next couple of years. I feel like they didn't have time to truly take advantage of the new strategies afforded by the rule changes. I also think the talent pool would've gotten a lot better as people would've start to see it as a truly legit NFL little brother.

I just don't see the league coming back regardless. Everything about the league since closing seems scummy as fuck and WWE shareholders should be pissed by this whole thing. Carny Vince McMahon burned bridges and will have to find people to fall for this shit again.
