I downloaded a trial of this game.. there were like 2 servers with at most 1,100 people. That was before WoW and EQ2.

How can they afford to make an expansion that will at at most a couple thousand?

MS doesn't own the license anymore, its all Turbine now. As for how? Who the hell knows, there are like 8 people playing that game now.
