Old school Thief was so fucking good. I hope this is good even when I don't care for VR.
The reboot was a disappointment, indeed. The only good thing it brought to the table was the adjustments you could make for the games' difficulty. Was the first game I played that had such a menu. The reboot was bloody awful and casualised compared to the original greats from Looking Glass. I am curious how this title come about haha.
Yup, the community is amazing. However Thief, Thief 2 and Deadly Shadows are amazing games. And with mods still very playable today.
Or just install the original Thief 1 & 2.VR-only version of a universally reviled franchise entry... What could go wrong?
Oh you're looking for Thief? Look no further.
Yeah, I bought it on sale quite recently.VR-only version of a universally reviled franchise entry... What could go wrong?

What usually happens with classic series returning as VR titles is that a VR developer/publisher asks the original IP holder to let them make a game, meanwhile the owners keep sitting on the franchise doing nothing with it.Such a weird way of seeing Thief returning, if anything. Not sure what to make of it.
It's also coming to Quest and SteamVR, and those systems are far from dead.Man, I LOVE Thief, their atmosphere has always been chef's kiss (dat Thief 3 orphanage level, shiiit) and even the PS4/XONE reboot was good (if you could manage to overlook the atrocious performance).
Not gonna buy a dead system (PSVR2) for this though, it's a shame that I won't be experiencing it but, it is what it is.
The reboot "had issues", so to speak, and a lot of them. The reboot was a disappointment, indeed.
It's amazing community, they did this in 1998 engine which blows my mind.
Dunno what has happened with this dude or if he is active.
But his mods were amazing.
Gonna be a GOTY contender whenever it's fully complete. I decided to wait until it was done to play, but it's such an awesome project I urge everyone to support it early. Easily in my top 5 most hyped games. Everything I've played and seen of it is absolutely perfect. The creator is a huge Looking Glass fan and it shows. He understands what made Thief special.Yeah, I bought it on sale quite recently.
Didn't start the proper gameplay yet.
Booted it up, did some stupid stuff. Felt it will be really awesome. I recently saw it had a huge update. So I may give it a try once I finish two other games I'm playing right now.
If it has upcoming game(s) that you want to play, it's not dead.Man, I LOVE Thief, their atmosphere has always been chef's kiss (dat Thief 3 orphanage level, shiiit) and even the PS4/XONE reboot was good (if you could manage to overlook the atrocious performance).

from the trailer, the new narrative doesn't feel cool enough imo. The classic ones got that really cool feel/vibe to the story and characters:
Plenty of games feature forearms (Skydance's Behemoth) or full body (Batman: Arkham Shadow), but it's hard to do without it looking pretty bad in-headset. I'd rather have just my hands than arms that behave all weird and janky, the brain filters them out in a few seconds anyway.Im blown away that in 2025 we still cant figure out how to "properly" include forearms for VR characters yet?
It's not dead if it's still getting games you like announced for it. Just don't expect big budget blockbuster exclusives. VR is too small for expensive exclusives. Besides, if you have a PC in addition to a PS5 it's a hell of a headset for it there too. it can never really be "dead" even if PS5 VR games stop getting announced every State of Play for whatever reason. Ive had something to look forward to most of the time (Metro Awakening was the previous VR announcement that was awesome). very much looking forward to Theif now.Man, I LOVE Thief, their atmosphere has always been chef's kiss (dat Thief 3 orphanage level, shiiit) and even the PS4/XONE reboot was good (if you could manage to overlook the atrocious performance).

Its so sad that this is a VR release. I hate VR, I dont enjoy it
