I've been watching Dawson's Creek this week because I enjoy 90's nostalgia and it's free on CTV.ca (I also discovered this week that no digital or physical releases of this show contain the iconic theme song we all hate so much, it's been replaced with some Jann Arden song), and this led me to read about some other shows from the decade, whereupon I discovered that ABC is bringing back this show with members of the original cast.

Thirtysomething...is about a group of Baby Boomers in their thirties who live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and how they handle the lifestyle that dominated American culture during the 1980s given their involvement in the early 1970s counterculture as young adults.

Might be interesting to see how today's 30 somethings are presented in contrast to the OG boomers.

Seems like a valid and interesting premise to bring it back.

So their kids would have been born in the early/mid 80's, making them all, what, somewhere between 33-39? Makes sense. My age range. A TV show about adults who were kids in the 80s. I wonder if they'll fudge the time-gap to make it 90's kids. 80's kids mostly grew up without the internet, so we knew life before & afterwards.

Looks like it's about people who are in their 30s now.

The original show was really popular and important. I was born in 84 and I still remember watching it every week because my mom liked it. I still remember being traumatized by an episode where a kid falls off something high in a playground and almost dies.

I don't think this has any chance of matching the original in terms of viewership or effect on TV in general. All these remakes are becoming tedious.

These studios are completely creatively bankrupt - I just read today there was a remake of Party of Five that came out on January 8th.

The new show will have one Indian couple, one black couple, and one asian/white mixed couple and it will be about the 30 something genders the show promises to represent.
