Thoughts on Bandcamp?

I was wondering, does anyone here in Gaf use bandcamp a lot? What's your favorite artists and genres? How do you feel about the Epic acquisition?
to answer my own questions, I use the site quite a bit for searching for music. While i like metal quite a bit i mostly use it for video game soundtracks, jungle, electronic and breakcore. I couldn't care less about the epic acquisition.

I use bandcamp for buying digital files, though my first preference is for physical media. BC has recommended me some solid songs/bands so I also like it for that. I'm bummed on the Epic buyout and am proceeding with caution.

I've purchased a dozen indie albums through there over the years. It worked fine. I stopped buying from the site after epic bought them.

Bandcamp is awesome, lots of hidden gems on there that I wouldn't have found otherwise.
I often prefer places like Bandcamp and Soundcloud over the more popular streaming platforms for most of my music, especially when it comes to smaller & more experimental artists.

Just checked, it's still blocked by the Chinese firewall. When it's not, you'll know some shit's happened.

My number one source for music since i don't stream at all. I really love the service that is provided and as long as it stays that way i will be a happy customer.

I buy and download mostly electronic music. Especially Drum & Bass or Psytrance but also a lot things that stray far away from that. Its not always up to date with the releases and occasionally i look for albums that aren't available at all but i find most of the music i want there.

Not sure what to think about EPIC's involvement or if it even impacts the service. For now i don't care.

I bought the Buckethead catalogue on Bandcamp which was about 300 albums. I still need to download them but it's a bit of a pain since there are so many.

I buy from Bandcamp all the time! Im a bit weary when ordering physical media from there though. Not the sellers fault by any means. I've ordered records in the past, shipped from overseas. Sometimes it goes missing for months and by the time I get them, they are all warped, bent, and damaged. When ordering physical media like that, i tried to order from within the US.

Im not familiar with Epic's aquisition, what does this mean for Bandcamp??

yup, I use it to find indy metal and rap artists. There's a lot of stuff on there that's not anywhere else and knowing my money's got a 80-85% chance of going to the artist makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
