Underrated. The first is the best platformer of that gen.

One of the few series I have literally never tried. Regret missing it.

Innovative as hell considering the usage of the dualshock. Definitely a product of it's time, though.

A clever game designed to sell the original Dual Shock. Nothing Earth shattering or a series that needs sequels imo.
Sony’s got some other long dormant games that I’d rather see over Ape Escape.

Great games and especially AE3, but the controls aged horribly.
Reboot the series and get rid of the right stick gimmick, that's for camera control nowadays.

Pipo monkeys are some of the coolest characters ever and Ape Escape 1 is a certified Sony classic, but the rest of the series never had the same luck. AE2 kinda sucked, and while AE3 is probably the definitive experience of the series, it was a already bit tiring by that point.
An Ape Escape 4 developed by SIE Team Asobi is a dream game of mine, tho.

It's a shame we never got SaruSaru Daisakusen, it was the only good spin-off alongside Pipo Saru 2001, and it's just so much fun.
Heck, I even want a PS5 remake of this game more than the original trilogy.

Only played the first one but I loved its unique gameplay, I wannah say underrated but I never felt the need to play the sequel
