April 8, 2005 - Game retail sources contacted IGN recently to verify that three Activision games, Quake IV, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Tony Hawk's Underground 3 have appeared in their database flagged for pre-order.

Retailers often update their databases using information provided by salespeople from their publishing partners. While Microsoft is hoping to announce all its news at its Pre-E3 press conference on Monday, May 16, an Activision salesperson must have told EB these games are sure bets for Xbox 360.

Activision has not officially announced Quake IV, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Tony Hawk's Underground 3, though rumors have bandied about on the Net for some time about their existence, particularly on Xbox 360. Id's John Carmack confirmed Quake IV was in development for PC at QuakeCon last summer, while Neversoft has yet to miss a year since the first Tony Hawk game in 1999. But none have been officially stamped as XBox 360 games...yet.

The retailer confirmed with IGN yesterday that fliers were distributed to employees explaining that customers can now pre-order Quake IV, Ultimate Spider-Man, and THUG 3 for Xbox 360. According to the source, customers can deposit $20 to pre-order any of the three.

We'll have more on Activisions upcoming games soon.

I love that first line! Game retail sources have phoned in! More like local EB and Gamestop employee has phoned in! :lol

No big surprises in the three games listed, though. I'd imagine Ultimate Spiderman and THUG3 will make launch. Not sure about Quake IV though.

Xbox 720 and PS4 games will be $700 a piece! They'll make NEO GEO carts look cheap!

There is only one hope for this industry!

Ya know...I have to wonder...what are people going to call those buttons?

I mean...really. "Hey! How do you jump in super ski jump extravaganza 4!?"
"Oh that's easy, you just press the "9 little dots laid out in a square pattern" button while holding the "dual twiddly" button. Or alternatively you can pres the "3 vertical lines right next to each other" button@"

Communication about gameplay would be a nightmare.

The nine dots is just a square. So you'd say "press square" :P

For the others, I imagine you'd call it the "wave" and "lines" button. O is just circle.

All I know is Quake IV will be mine. Hopefully activision plans to release Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil as well on the 360.

I'd be inclined to call them "one, two, three, nine".

Well, it sounds like Doom 3: RoE may come out for the original Xbox. Not the 360.

Man, guessed two out of three.. Quake really threw me... but Tony Hawk and Spider-Man... so predictable :)

Funny, I thought Quake was the predictable one...Spider-Man is the one I find surprising. Though now that I think about it I do recall plans for an Ultimate Spider-Man game based on the comic of the same name. Hope it's a solid game.

Well, that's good news as well. If anything it'll give id a chance to add Final Doom into the Limited Collector's Edition if they decide to do so. One thing I hope they can manage on RoE for Xbox is improved shadowing. Riddick still does some amazing advanced shadowing, something missing in a few areas of Doom 3. Also, not being able to take out all of the lights in Doom 3 is like a step down from Riddick. That was one of my favorite things to do.
