Time for a music thread.

Music is magic.
I'll share with you some of my bangers, and I hope you do too.

Undertale - knock you down.

Just finished it and song stuck with me. Immediately reminded of the neon nightriders level in turtles in time, and the battle is also just grand.

Kingdom hearts 2 - darkness of the unknown.

Ultima epic classic.

Shin megami tensei - ginza

This series alone has a smorgasboard of killer hits, but my all time favourite is Ginza.

FF6 - dancing mad reorchestrated.

Kefka have mercy.

Resident evil 2 - the marshaling yard.

Absolute nostalgia (for me).

Trying to make this made me realise there's so much music to share and I don't even want to choose because they're all omega bangers. Hope you enjoy.

Always liked this in MGS 2:

Obviously its not near the greatness of the MGS1 OST, but I appreciate it in its own way and how it fits with perfectly the game tone and graphics.

This one in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I was fascinated with. Its such a turn in the story from light-hearted to very dark. Seeing crumbling USA interstate signs in that game was not what I expected in Xenoblade game.

FF14 Heavensward is probably some of the best Final Fantasy since FF10. Nobuo Uematsu came back and did the main theme, Dragonsong, which was awesome, but he also redid the theme for Matoya's cave (The Mushroomery). That was one of the best musical surprises in a game ever for me. Was a very nice nostalgia kick.

We get these threads once in a while. Anyway since Im replaying Borderlands series in anticipation for the 4th, heres some tunes I love in BL3 from the same awesome underrated composer that also did the DXHR ost and others ofc.

Skies of Arcadia one of the GOAT

Main theme one of the best

Boss theme is just insane, the shift @ 2 mins is just something else

Walking around jungle with that song

The FFXIII trilogy has some excellent music:

Best boss song I've ever heard

One of the most melancholic songs I've ever heard in games.

Yes I have to agree, and it's also the only good thing about them!
My favourites would be oerba from 13 and 13-2, also the battle version. That was something I did like that most songs would turn into some kind of drum n bass version when enemies got near.

The entire Mario Kart World OST of over 300 tunes is absolutely incredible for people who love Nintendo music and jazz/fusion. And the best part is that all of the songs have actual endings, and aren't just faded out loops. It's such an awesome soundtrack!

Edit: This isn't pasting the playlist for some reason. (Or maybe it is but just isn't working on mobile.) If it doesn't work, try this link.

Half Life Alyx's Vault music. Its ominous, haunting, chaotic, otherworldly, yet fits exactly what you experience in VR when you get there and if gaming music is supposed to help visuals and elevate a game to a next level, I think anyone that experienced that in VR can attest its quite a fucking moment in gaming.

Its also a crab canon, the sound is identical going forward and backward.

The thirty seven after six, 6:37, 23 minutes away from when Earth surrenders in the Half-Life series, the 7 hours war. Very melancholic.

I remember watching my cousin play this when we were kids. He owned the game and I never did. But, I remember the music to this day. I have had this game on my steam wishlist forever, and now listening again makes me want to buy it more. The remix song is so good.

I still never finished this game. I started over not long ago, then shelved my hardware and play space and haven't had a good time to bother again.

At what point in the game do you hear 37 after 6? I don't think I've heard it. I love it.

Underrated gem of a game on the GC, this track is my favorite.

And for all you late to the party SMT fans, Digital Devil Saga (1&2) has a god like OST. Every track is incredible. So here's a few.

Horse with no name by America was just magic in GTA San Andreas, seriously i'll never forget the feeling i had driving through desert in SA. It was like i was there.

I really recommend giving it a chance again. The crescendo of this game towards the end is one of the best gaming experience I've had in years.

iirc its very early on at Russell's apartment/lab. But it is "radio" in the game and not as clean as the official OST release (sadly). Peoples were very happy to actually get a clean release as before release all they had was the radio one ripped.

I hate playing League of Legends, but their music department is INSANE imo.

hiring freaking Jørn Lande for 3 proggy power metal albums is based as fuck 🤘🏼

and then making it an interactive live event on twitch... insane shit

🤔...In terms of lyrics in tandem with the music...i freaking love Silent Hill´s music. There are such powerful and visceral phrases,

Shadows appear right before my eyes
Sounds echo the absurd
Hard to explain something that I heard
When you think you're really alone
Feel the eyes of someone looking in on you
Now hear the forest talking
Insects and birds
Does the scent of soil and beast
Breathe the life into the animal you hide?

So did your time away from here
Renew your soul to make you strong?
For your return, I thought you knew
It feels good just holding you

I'm glad you're here
I see you're well
And welcome home
Embrace your hell

In a town hungry for the lonely
Lost, innocent child
Forbidden life taken in a moment
Life too late for saving
...or just in time

There is a moment in time
When all the cards that you've played divide (divide)
You feel the temperature dive
And all your demons inside come crashing through

In your mind's eye
Lives a memory hard to find
Blinded by sorrow

A toast to lonely souls
Who never could take control of life
And all the missing we love
I hope the darkness they find will give them light

Oh yeah, I've been here before
I can see it with eyes closed
Shadows that look like blood
Dead as far as the mind goes

Fear that comes from my head
Lives in the mirror
Why won't you let me out?
Does the evil excite you?

Haven't you had enough?
Does the feeling control you?
Just when I think I'm okay
Shadows surround me

Wild Arms intro. I was trying to find old PS1 bangers and this one was in a mix. I forgot all about it. I played this one and the sequel, back when I actually enjoyed turn based jrpgs.
