20 years ago today in Japan, Sony interactive Entertainment Inc. released the PlayStation Portable, which marked the company's entry into the handheld console market.
6 games were available at launch, including SIE's Everybody's Golf Portable.

Today marks 20 years since the PSP "PlayStation Portable" was released on December 12, 2004

Remember getting mine on launch day in the UK along with WipEout and taking it into work, it just blew people away.

Probably the last time I was genuinely excited for a console launch

Great device, I remember that I watched countless .avi Japanese porn on my classmate's PSP.

I preferred the DS Lite’s ergonomics at the time, and then jumped in fast when Sony showed the OLED VITA. PSP felt like a prototype imo…But man were the God of War games by Ready at Dawn fun romps!

Metal Gear Ac!d, MGS Portable Ops, Jeanne D'Arc, FFTatics:tWotL, SFAlpha3Max... So many awesome games.
Those, and a lot more, are the one's that need a Remaster/Remake for the PS5...

Superb bit of hardware. Me and a bunch of others had these at work and would hold daily PES tournaments.

Probably the only gaming handheld I spent major time with.

A modded PSP was an amazing homebrew machine back in the day.

I probably used mine as much as a media machine, as a games device.

Still got mine loaded with emulators and use it once in a while when going on a trip. Modern portable consoles are anything but portable.
