The Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept has both a 2.0 liter boxer engine and electric motor hybrid system, a feature that could land in actual showrooms by 2011.

A model shows off Honda Motor's experimental concept vehicle, the balance control U3-X, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The vehicle can go forward, backward, side-to-side and diagonally, all of it controlled with a simple lean. Still in the experimental stage, the U3-X has a battery life of only 1 hour.

Honda's EV-N is a tiny retro-looking electric vehicle with a power-producing solar panel on its roof. The car also has a place to store your Honda U3-X (scooter from slide 2).

Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda introduces the Lexus LFA at the show. The new supercar boasts a top speed of 202mph, goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and has a price tag of $375,000.

The electric Nissan "Land Glider" shifts its center of gravity in turns by leaning its body like a motorcycle.

Daihatsu shows off its concept "Deca Deca." The van's big cabin has doors that open up to 135 degrees and a center pillar-less body.

Yamaha's new concept electric scooter, the EC-1, is part of a company strategy to move beyond its core market of motorcycle fans with fun, personal vehicles.

The Nissan Land Glider & the Honda Skydeck have the best overall design, feasibility and practicality out of all of them IMO.

The Honda in terms of the amount of space you have as well as the aerodynamics. Plus the fact that the doors are actually LOGICAL unlike some of the other stupid concept cars, where you wouldn't even be able to open the door in a parking lot. I like it as an SUV type vehicle.

The Nissan Glider is truly something special, as it takes the tilt and shifting concept we've seen in 3-wheeler prototypes from the past half decade or so and incorporates that into a small 4 wheel vehicle nicely; something I could definitely see on the road in the future.

What exactly is the point of a mini car that leans like a motorcycle?
You could drive it in the rain without getting all wet. Also, it looks pretty cool if you ask me, that interior is all kinds of crazy in a good way. I'd gladly go shopping, or to work in that - or anywhere that's shorter distance and I could avoid highways.

Except for getting crushed by a truck and trapped inside the little death machine I agree.:lol

It does look really cool though. I would just much rather get thrown away from the accident on a motorcycle, than be smooshed inside that little tin can.

but getting thrown a 100 feet at 90mph and hitting solid ground multiple times till stopped by solid...wall, is not fun either:lol

I have a family, and need something cool to drive, would totally buy the Subaru or Honda (as long as they didn't neuter the production versions too much)

This is going to be in pornos isn't it

I've seen some videos of the U3-X and it's pretty damn cool. Honda also had a concept car that had a built-in storage spot for it so you get to where you need to be and then go the rest of the way on the U3-X.

I can't be the only one thinking Tron right now, right?

The Lexus looks fucking beautiful. I admit I didn't like the look of the car at first sight, damn, it just looks so damn good to me. Looks far better than the GT-R (the fish eye headlights on that car look disgusting).
