I was recently reminded Allen Gregory was a thing that existed.
250px-Allen-Gregory-fox-01.jpg

It lasted 7 episodes before being cancelled.

Allen Gregory is an American animated television series that aired Sundays at 8:30 pm on Fox from October 30 to December 18, 2011.[1] The series was created by Jonah Hill, Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. The series received enormously negative reviews and was cancelled by Fox on January 8, 2012

...

Allen Gregory received extremely negative reviews from critics. On that basis, it is considered to be one of the worst animated series to air on television. Chris Swanson of WhatCulture gave the pilot episode a rating of 0.5 out of 5, saying "There is nothing charming, witty or interesting about this show. It’s just one horribly stupid, cringe-inducing moment after another with characters who are truly loathsome and unpleasant."[14] Robert Bianco of USA Today also gave the show a negative review, saying it was "nasty and brutish", "rarely funny", and made them "hate every character except Julie".

Berserk Manga - Alrighty, just finished the Golden Age Arc. Having only seen the anime up until now, the most interesting thing here was definitely how much more involved Skull Knight and Zodd were to the plot. I was also surprised by how much actual humor was in the manga. Like, nothing laugh out loud funny, but plenty a small gags scattered throughout the arc.

Casca got a raw deal out of all of this man.
Modern Berserk is less...edge lordy than it was when it first started. First page is Guts fucking a demon...they had to at some point tone it down. How'd you like Wyald?

Wyald probably had my favorite design of all the apostles so far in the story. His fight with Guts was some good shit. Shame we never got to see that animated in any form.

Could've done with the penis tongue though lol

Bruh it's Berserk, get used to penises being where they shouldn't be. It'll take a while for you to get to my favorite Apostle design though.

I forgot about Allen Gregory. Why do I remember Allen Gregory?

I'll tell you what I remember.

The main character is raised by a male-male couple. Except not really because only one of them is gay, he just stalked and convinced the other guy (who is heterosexual) to marry him so that he can live as a trophy husband.

Fits right in that animated block on FOX Sunday.

The effort to repress AG from my mind...

Araki's said that he loves dogs, which is why he makes the villains hate them.

He also thinks cats are untrustworthy because his grandmother's cat once bit him.

i also think they've done a really horrendous job of advertising Attack on Titan season 2 unless they've been throwing up ads left and right during regular Adult Swim that i'm not aware of

but even then like...actual ads DURING Samurai Jack seem like they'd a good idea?

Funny thing is I've seen Attack on Titan ads on a couple different channels but they're Crunchyroll advertising it.

Fox pushed it hard and to make room for it Fox notoriously delayed fellow newcomer Bobs Burgers to a mid season return. Fox sure knows how to pick them.

The best thing to happen to Bob's Burgers is that Fox only picked terrible shows to bridge the gap, so they had to keep bringing it back. And now, it's pretty much there as long as they want I imagine.

Gave Bob's Burgers time to find an audience.

To be fair, it's a internet poll and not actually something important. It has about the same objectivity as a GameFAQs poll.

And to be fairer, other than children's shows, movies, and some adaptations, anime's not something a normal person in Japan would regularly watch, due to its association with otaku and perverts. Everybody prefers manga.

I don't think they're weebs if they're actually in Japan but yeah most anime aren't aimed at a general population

that's why there's so much fanservice anime and other rubbish, it's intended for the niche crowd who'd buy those expensive blu-rays and merch; a normal Japanese person thinks that fanservice is just as stupid and gratuitous as we do.

While it is an internet poll, it was a pretty long running one, and it was run by the biggest TV station in Japan to commemorate the 100th anniversary of anime, so it's about as high profile as an internet poll can possibly be.

So Japan didn't like Kill La Kill?

The real question is where did they put Diamond is not Crash?

High profile for an internet poll still isn't that high profile. Would you bother to go and vote on an online poll just because it's held by the national news channel? I'd just roll my eyes and ignore it, and people in Japan would do the same.

...and then after the results come out, they'd go complain on a forum that the country's taste has gone to shit. That's how it works.

Seven deadly sins is pretty good not top tier but I enjoy reading it every week. Fairy tail I just read out of habit at this point I kinda feel like the author peaked with rave and couldn't figure out how to top it.
