The beauty of Top Spin is that it's crystal clear. You really feel like you're a part of the tennis match, instead of just a ping pong champion like in earlier tennis games. It looks like they've really mess that up. Why even make this game? The first one didn't sell. They think an uglier one will?

Quick, someone post pics of better looking PS2 titles.

Because honestly, I don't see what's wrong with these screens. The way I look at it, the PS2 is aging.

Only Japanese companies know tennis games. 2K sports should just stop.

I'm sorry, but that comment is absolutely ridiculous!

You're a cool guy and all...but you're a cool guy making absolutely ridiculous comments!

Uh...Top Spin on the Xbox is great. Not a Japanese game, and looks much better than this stuff. 2K Sports? Try P & M.

Maybe you have never played the Xbox version... they're obviously wrong in comparison.

I have played the Xbox version.

The fact that the Xbox is a lot better (visually) than the PS2 was established many years ago. :) I don't think these screens are THAT bad at all, and like I said, compared to other PS2 games it probably looks on par. It's a fun game, and it's great that PS2 fans get to play it. Hopefully it sells well on the PS2.

Fixed!

Then why does SC2 look a lot nicer then that? :P

It's built for the PS2 ground up.

Ports for sports games, especialy the 2K series look way better on the Xbox.

Smash Court looks great in that pic, but isn't it a lot simpler looking to begin with?

No, it's fine the way it is. Top Spin is the most realistic tennis simulation that's ever been released for a console, both in terms of ball physics on the court and striking the tennis ball/player movement. Yeah, the single player is kinda dull with regard to presentation, but it's still very fun. And the load times? Bah, you get used to it. Doesn't ruin the title. I've owned Top Spin for the Xbox, and if you're willing to accept a game that's compromised this much in any genre for any platform, that's just poor judgment IMO.

Can someone translate that?^

It wasn't directed at you, champ. I just posted that my comment didn't need "fixing". So if you want to take exception to my comments, go right ahead. You know very well what I meant by my post. Read the post.

This sentence blows my mind, I cant figure it out.

Let's figure it out together, okay?

I've owned Top Spin for the Xbox

This means that I once had in my possession the game Top Spin, and it was for the Xbox video game system.

and if you're willing to accept a game that's compromised THIS much

Notice the capitalized word. You could gather from my previous comments that I am not too fond of this PS2 port. Therefore, I must be referring to the screenshots once again.

in any genre for any platform, that's just poor judgment IMO.

Meaning, you may as well skip the PS2 version of Top Spin, since IMO they did not do the port justice.

Now, any other questions?

You're an idiot. Top Spin is a fantastic tennis simulation. That game doesn't look THAT bad and for someone who doesn't have an XBox to pass it because of it's downgraded graphics is just poor judgement IMO.

Who uses 16-bit colour on the PS2? They must really be desperate for video mem or something.

Plenty of games across all systems still end up using 16-bit color. I mentioned RE4 for this very reason, as it was one the top games on the GC. It's still common...

Is it about the graphics, or the gameplay? If you're concerned that they downgraded the graphics, that's one thing...but if the game has excellent gameplay, and the PS2 version maintains (or possibly even improves) the quality of gameplay, then shouldn't the game be worth getting for a PS2 owner who doesn't have it on X-Box already?

Yes.

Looks decent, though this reminds me that I've been way late to the party to pick up the Xbox version. Conveniently, it isn't available new on EB or Gamestop right now...

:/

The lighting (both pre-rendered and realtime) looks GREAT in that shot! The arena look awesome, and the guy is light with the right amount of brightness and the multiple shadows are nice.

The colours are a tad off, and it's the colours of the textures rather than the lighting that's off. His skin is a tad too shiny as well...but still, I'm impressed!
