Friendship follows Craig Waterman (Robinson), who enjoys his life. He likes New Balance shoes, Subway sandwiches, and Marvel movies. He lives in the suburbs with his wife, Tami (Kate Mara), and son, Steven (Jack Dylan Grazer). He's happy to work at Universal Digital, a company that helps brands make their products more habit-forming. Craig sees no reason to change anything or make new friends… until weatherman Austin (Rudd) moves into the neighborhood. Mysterious yet friendly, macho but vulnerable, Austin transforms everything for Craig, but Craig's obsessive and childlike nature threatens to ruin the friendship, and possibly everything else in his life.

Paul Rudd is fine, the premise is weird. Is it trying to say don't rock the boat and seek changes? or don't be nice to your new neighbors as they might be annoyingly autistic?

This is I Love You Man turned dark. Cribs specific lines even pretty closely and several concepts.

Considering that's one of my favorite movies in all in lol

I fuckin love Tim Robinson. This looks like an elongated ITYSL sketch, and I'm all for it.

Just saw this today. If you know Tim Robinson, you already know exactly what to expect. It's basically one gigantic I Think You Should Leave sketch. There are a bunch of hysterical moments if you like that kind of comedy. But, of course, saying the plot is "loose" would be an understatement.

Still, definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of ITYSL.

"One gigantic I Think You Should Leave sketch" pretty much sums up what I was looking for from it. Unfortunately, it's still not got a release date over here. But I'll definitely be watching it when I get a chance to.

Aren't all the sketches an elongated joke. Tim Robinson is dog shit tier humor.

Awful. Nothing could make me want to see this movie less. It's like the special ed kid got a contract to entertain retarded civilians from idiocracy.

Saw it last night with my wife. I'm a big fan of ITYSL and she never watched any of it. Overall I think I enjoyed it 8/10 and she enjoyed it maybe a 6.5/10 (which is higher than I would have guessed going in!).

As usual, the media quotes of "funniest thing I have ever seen" were just overexaggerated cringe from hipster media outlets. Was it funny? Yes. Did I have a couple hard belly laughs? Yes. But there were also quite a few jokes that really didn't land, or times when Tim's shtick just went on for too long or was repeated too many times (which was also the case for ITYSL).

If you are a fan of his stuff, see the movie.
If you don't like his stuff, dear god avoid this at all costs. You will hate this movie.
If you don't know about him - watch the trailer. If you laugh during the trailer, you'll probably laugh during the movie.

I'm definitely interested in seeing this (but I'll wait for streaming). I think ITYSL is great - the new season cannot arrive soon enough, in my opinion - but I can appreciate how this type of humor is really not for everyone. I am actually surprised that I like it as much as I do, as I typically don't have the patience for this style. For whatever reason, it just clicks with me..

So is it actually funny? Or scary? I'm getting mixed signals

I think it's the funniest movie I've seen in years. Imagine an A24 indie drama type movie and inserting Tim Robinson into it. It's definitely a dark comedy and if you're into those, you will probably enjoy it. I imagine people will be turned off by Tim's character though.
