will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
You may remember Rian Johnson, the man responsible for one of the best love-it-or-hate-it noir stories in years, Brick . He's got a new film coming out, starring Adrien Brody (fuck yea), Rachel Weisz (meh), and mark Ruffalo (yay!). Plot:

The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they've decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.

And here's the trailer, which seems to play up the quirk far more than the film will probably let on:

Still, despite some clear cut trailer misdirection, this film looks dope as fuck. Summit Entertainment is releasing Brothers Bloom on October 24th this fall. Can't wait.

Day 1 for me.

Brick was the fucking shit so I'll watch anything Rian Johnson does from now on. I just hope his brother scored this flick too, the music in Brick was amazing.

johnson is going to be a star. he is a brilliant writer-director. watching BRICK, i got the same sense i got the first time i saw PI: that one day, whoever made this was going to be someone set right alongside the best talents in film.

This film still hasn't come out? I remember seeing the original trailer forever ago.

Haven't seen the new trailer, but the original looked pretty solid.

Yeah it was supposed to come out in the fall, then pushed to early spring, now it looks like it will def be coming out.

the first 7 minutes of the film are available on hulu for interested parties.

some notes from slashfilm:

Rian Johnson’s (Brick) “big fun globetrotting con man movie” The Brothers Bloom doesn’t hit theaters until May 29th, but right now you can watch the first 7 minutes on Hulu. Things to look out for: One of the young Brothers Bloom is played by Where the Wild Things
star Max Records, as Rian points out in the intro. You might recognize the voice in the voice over narration as Magician Ricky Jay, who also provided some narration for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia. But this opening sequence introduces you to the quirky tone
and characters of this story. It’s a great movie. I highly recommend it, and can’t wait to see it again myself.

Brothers Bloom and Up come out the same day now? GODDAM.

I don't want to watch those 7 minutes because I want to experience this movie as a whole, but it's a nice gesture regardless.

Fuck, this movie needs to come out.

Also, his next movie, Looper...gonna be so awesome.

this is in limited release friday, correct?

chud posted their review, and it's very glowing. some excerpts:

While Bloom isn't as stylized in language as Brick, it is stylized in tone and setting. I hesitate to use the word 'quirky' because it automatically creates a negative image in so many people's minds, but Bloom is sort of quirky. It's unique, with a light spirit and an often playful tone. Johnson creates an entire world in a few bright brush strokes, and then he populates it with characters that charm immediately. There's a dark edge to Brick that's almost completely missing here; villains and (possible) real danger appear in the third act, but I didn't miss them before that. Spending time with the Brothers Bloom as they live the yarn they spin was enough to keep me engrossed.

Speaking of beautiful: the film itself is often gorgeous. It's hard to believe that this sunny globe-trotting adventure was shot in Eastern Europe. Johnson's DP from Brick, Steve Yedlin, is back, but like the writer/director he brings a totally different game to this film. Also returning is composer Nathan Johnson (yes, related), whose Jon Brion-inflected score keeps the bouncy, just edging on frothy, tone of the film springing high. And while we're talking music, I have to give props to Rian Johnson for compiling a terrific series of needle-drops, including some Nashville Skyline-era Bob Dylan. That choice alone bespeaks a good record collection.

Comparing movies is a fool's game - no two are the same, unless Gus Van Sant is remaking it shot for shot. But the urge to compare Johnson's second film to his first will likely be overwhelming for some, despite the fact (or maybe because of the fact) that they're two very, very different animals. I will say that Brick was a more electrifying film in the way that only a totally out of left field phenomenon can be. I walked out of Brick with my neurons firing at a mile a minute, intoxicated on language. I walked out of The Brothers Bloom almost sad. Johnson has created a world so warm and off-kilter, yet relatable and believable, that I never wanted to leave it. And he peopled it with characters who I wanted to keep on knowing. With Brick Rian Johnson got me excited with his storyteller's tools; with The Brothers Bloom he used them to transport me.

I loved being the mark in this con.

he scores it a 9 out of 10. i need to see this shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Indeed it is. I'm gonna check it out @ the Arclight on Friday myself.

It depends where you are. This Friday it goes into limited release, not sure which cities other than LA thouigh.

lucky bastard.

I'm extremely excited for this film. Brick is one of my favorite movies, and I've been waiting forever for something more from Rian Johnson.

Speaking of which, he helps the /filmcast review Star Trek in the newest episode. Not a whole lot of information about his films, but still kinda cool.

saw it a couple weeks ago. it was quite good. Rachel Weisz character is very funny, and Bang Bang steals the entire movie.

Wrong, I'm a 3rd.

Oh wait you got a tag for THAT? lolololol
I'm the 4th ^_^, One of my top three for this summer. But it took so long to come out :lol

Of course it comes out on the same week as Up!, Which is Gaf suicide

I just came back from seeing this movie (yeah, didn't get a chance to see it last week) and it surpassed my already high expectations. I don't understand these bad reviews that I've read. It's even better than Brick IMO.
