I really dig Jumping Flash. The sequel was so-so, but the original was one of the best things on the PS in the early days. I really played a hell out of the demo available at launch before the game was released. Of course, there was the novelty of the first 3D platformer, but I think there was more.
The play mechanics were simple, but they worked. And so did the first-person, for that matter. There was no camera issues in the game. Only the digital controls felt a bit clunky, but you got around those in no time.
I don't think the game was really much of a looker, but it did convey great heights in a convincing fashion and those levels had a lot of charm, despite all their blockiness. One thing that was definitely top-notch was the soundtrack. There were a lot of great tunes in that game. Kudos to whoever was responsible for composing them.
To the uninitiated, I'd say JF is worth a try. As with many early 3D games, it didn't age too well but if you're willing to overlook that, you can experience a platformer that is really one of a kind.
