Movie gets a thumbs down from me. It's a Greek mythology movie with no sex, real violence or mythology. Way too much CG of huge armies doing nothing, sorry but we've all seen LOTR. The movie was also way to heavely geared towards women and homosexuals. I guess I know how women feel going to most movies as I was downright anoyed at the percentage of man flesh in this film compared to the women. The whole battle is being waged over Helen and we don't get to see so much as a curve. Yet we get ever possible square inch of Bana and Pitt they can squeeze under the PG. Violence is very sparatic and strangly spread out. The movie would have been great if they just droped the teen crowd and rated it R.

Also I should mention as far as I can tell we got the exact same cut of the film just our rating system is not as strong so it only warranted a PG.

Im just curious exactly what accent you would of preferred? A greek accent doesnt go over too well on screen or on the ears, and please, for the love of all that is good do not say an american accent.

While not making much sense, the accent that was chosen for the film seems to fit more than the others.

This is so true. I distenctly remember during one of the long paning shots of cg the shot ends with you literally staring at a wall. It was there long enough to me to turn to my buddy and ask him why are we staring at a wall. It cracked him up and a we got a few shh's from other movie goers.

But like the whole romance between pitt and whoever the hell she was... just made up for that movie and was stupid and out of place because of it.

You make a good point on why they chose the British, but my main objection was how badly it was carried out. Pitt kept changing it at parts, and I think Orlando was just using Legolas's accent again.

i really liked it when i stopped paying attention to the glaring inaccuracies. when i took it in against the iliad, it was a piece of crap, but when i just took it at face value it was really entertaining.

It was a boring ass movie. I almost feel asleep during the battle scenes, which were completely unoriginal. The only thing they really could have added was Posiedon trashing throught the Trojans and other god meddling like in the Illiad. The love stories were stupid, and I could never really get behind any of the characters. The CG looked bad as well. I really was taken aback by the face panoramic shots of Troy, whoop de fucking do.

Let's see... not counting all the porn made, but there is an unmeasurable amount more woman flash in the history of all movies. There's also quite a lot of woman flash in Troy as well. I liked the movie alot. Achilles' jump stab move was done a bit too much for my liking though. Felt like playing a fighting game, or something lol.

The fight between Hector & Achilles was total badass though, even with all the jump stabs .

Half of my baseball team (including me) were obsessed with the movie when it came out. We would reinact the fight scenes with Achilles. The jump-stab move was the shit. Brad Pitt just fucking kicked ass in the movie...it was bullshit that the pussy Paris/Legolas killed him.

The Hector - Achilles fight was amazing.

I really liked the movie. Pitt vs Bana fight was incredible, much more convincing than 95 percent of sword battles i've seen.

LOTR is a biggest culprit, the sword battles in that where a complete chore to watch.

Gladiator > Troy >>>> everything else (duels)

Good movie. Won't be highly remembered, but it's entertaining. I just thought it had 3 major faults:

1.- CG armies. They suck. People should start copying Edward Zwick instead of Peter Jackson.

2.- The soundtrack. Clichéd and just horrible. The awful quality is understandable if you know the drama behind it.

3.- Paris killing Achilles. I don't give a shit if it was that way in the original story, that's just bullshit, man. I'd pay money just to see a version in which Paris dies a horrible death. I also think the movie took a nosedive when Hector died. He was BY FAR the best character in the movie. Fact.

True, Hector was awesome. He took his beating like a man, knew he was going to die but still went out there to pay for what he had done.
