TRUTHFACT: MS having eSRAM yield problems on Xbox One

I'm sure most of us are very happy with the outstanding job Sony is doing for ps4, but I really hope the Xbox doesn't get down clocked. It's already weak as it is. With final fantasy Xv being multi and having large maps, there would probably be quite a compromise in environments, assets, effects, etc. at the very least give us 1.23 Tf. That way there is more room to optimize so the difference of quality isn't huge. Fingers crossed Microsoft eats the bad yields.

It's pretty telling that Sony has been extremely forthcoming with all hardware specs while MS has been holding back. Same thing Nintendo does. It's very likely something will be down-clocked.

I've seen a lot of people saying that gamestops are only allowing for so many XB1 reserves, and the number has been quite a bit smaller than what they've allocated for PS4. Maybe this means less quantity at release instead of a downclock?

It can't be that much, if down-clocked at all. There would have to be a monumental cock-up in the design for that to happen, and I'd have thought they would rather delay and re-design then go with that.

Must be a typo, or bad source.

Imagine the egg on some peoples' faces if the One turns out to be more powerful than the PS4, even without the cloud computing benefits.

Just consider that there might be a good reason MS is playing their cards close to the vest on this one. Still a ways until launch and best to drop the big news closer in time.

It would be pretty funny, especially since the price then gets justified. Don't see it happening but would be great to watch it unfold.

I don't see how that actually could be possible. All the cloud talk is marketing/PR talk... the effect will be marginal at best.

ms is hiding their specs.

So are we already seeing a power gulf now? Tretton said in the Gametrailers interview that the 3rd parties are agreeing that the PS4 is more powerful.

Stuff like Infamous, Killzone, The Order or that crazy tech demo are already ahead IMO.
Also will be interesting to see if Xbone Asscreeed will also run 1080p 60fps.

DF, where you at? Need some tech analysis.

And yet Tretton said to Keighley that publishers are saying ps4 versions are looking better and that he encourages people to compare the versions themselves.

They showed some asteroid tech demo to demonstrate the power of the cloud, and apparently it was a fairly impressive demo. I don't think it is all marketing/PR talk. With an always online requirement I hope developers actually take advantage of being online and connected to the cloud in their designs.

Games shown on the conference floor were most likely demoed on development computers not perfectly representative of the system's final performance: I don't think analysis of now available footage will tell us all that much about how much weaker the Xbone will turn out to be.

That's absolutely not going to happen and highly wishful thinking (but your statement seems to be in jest anyway).

I suggest not to get too hung up on specs. The far bigger issue is DRM and mandatory kinect.

But yes, PS4 is clearly at least 50% more powerful with more memory width to boot. Should translate to at least a 25-30% performance difference in framerate, possibly much more if mem width restrictions kick in.

There's no rational reason to do that. It's a dumb move that makes no sense.

yes but what about those people who are still clinging on to this make believe reality of such a thing happen tho. First with secret sauce, now with it's all part of a plan etc etc. Guess hiding the heads in the sand removes any chance of eggs on their faces.

You shouldn't do this - most people don't know how to correctly read it ^^

They're charging an extra hundred bucks for a reason (and not just Kinect 2). All I'm saying is you pay for quality.

All of the high level demos were played on the PS4 in EA/Ubi conference. Need for Speed, The Division, and I believe there was another game too.

The only Xbox One game I saw at the conference was The Crew- which, perhaps coincidentally, was visually underwhelming.

500mhz giving 640gflops for games, no way games like quantum break and forza 5 could run at that spec uncless there like 540p 30fps

I think CBOAT has got wrong info or maybe not the full story.

This console has to last 10 years no way are they giving the PS4 a 125% GPU advantage

What is this FUD you're trying to spread? Shit like this just does not happen

Are you serious? It looks like a normal internal HDD. Why would they make it inaccessible?

If we tried to answer all the dumb questions brought up by the XBONe we'd have a forum with thousands of threads and posts...wait.

I imagine it's because of the 3 OS that come installed.

As to the 500mhz downclock, I doubt it will have dropped that far if it has dropped at all.

lol

This would fly in the face of every rumour we have heard about the XBONE for about 6 months. 95% of which turned out to be true.

And yet Tretton said to Keighley that publishers are saying ps4 versions are looking better and that he encourages people to compare the versions themselves.

I liked that from Tretton. The comment he made about not making outlandish claims but to let the consumer decide.

He never mentioned the Downclocking just the bad yields

Yeah, that would also kinda explain the high launch price. Well, maybe.

Also, don't fall for AstroLad, people.

Hmm, probably true for some games, but I would expect the first party stuff like KZ or Infamous to run on PS4 hardware or at least exact equivalents. Those games are far in development and I don't think downgrades are likely. The contrary, they will enter the polishing stage soon.

Are you from MS's PR department? Otherwise I can't imagine someone typing this with any sincerity.

Given the current layout of the internals it would be impossible to make the HDD accesible without allowing all of the guts exposed, which would obviously void the warranty. Given that they've said an external HDD can be utilized in the exact same manner as the internal one, it's preferable IMO since there are rear USB ports. Grab a cheap external HDD and just hide it behind the console.

The HDD looks to be in a corner, much like it is with PS3. It could have been made accessible if certain elements were added. However, given it runs contrary to all that MS stands for, the warranty would indeed be voided if opened. It looks like they're going the Wii U route.

The only question is whether the transfer rate and seek time for an external HDD through USB drive is on par with an internal 2.5" 5400RPM SATA. I may be mistaken but I don't think it would be.

lol this is dumber than astrolad. Paying for inferior specs is quality. Goddamn I guess I've been going backwards on my PC upgrades all these years.

Not only this, but also:

Big enough to hide something behind after all.

So ps4 is smaller, has internal power supply and space for a user replaceable drive arrangement. Wow.

You sir are hilarious.
and totally fucking out of your mind
Oh and looks like Matt dropped the mic on you already.

I love Astrolad but it's even better when people don't point out that someone got Astrolad'd. Much more fun to see how many people take him serious.

I also look forward to seeing a post from Astro one day where he's being sincere and people think he's being satirical. Some next level Astroladding when he can take advantage of that uncertainy and do some reverse-reverse-reverse psychology. Subtle sarcastic satirical satire or something. If anyone could pull it off, he can.
