Trying to host a Zelda 4 swords adventure LAN party. Is this all you need?

5 Televisions
5 Nintendo Gamecubes
4 Gameboy Players
4 GCN Controller Extension Cables
4 Nintendo Gamecube Controllers
1 Copy of 4 Swords Adventures
4 GCN to GBA Link Cables

Never done this before and I need to now get all this stuff together. Does it seem okay, or am I missing something? Has anyone here tried this before?

EDIT: LAN should be in quotes for obvious reasons.

Diagram below.

Yep, that should be it :lol

Always wanted to do that, but I have a hard enough time just finding 3 other people.

For bonus points, you might as well get FFCC and Pacman Vs.

Would the same setup work for both of those?

Seems like it would work, though going the Game Boy Player/5 TV route is overdoing it just a bit. :lol

Yah, it would work perfectly for FFCC, and very minor adjustments for Pacman Vs if I remember how its set up correctly (You only needed 3 gameboys I think)

Also, if you have a Wii, use it at the center, so you can play in 480p without having to track down that ungodly priced wire.

Shouldn't you only need:

1 TV
1 copy of FSA
1 GCN
4 GBA's
4 Link Cables

Am I missing something?

Edit: Oh LAN, gotcha. Reading comprehension fail.

Yes, the epic factor of a TV for everyone. If me and my friends pull this off, I am SO taking pictures.

He's using the Game Boy Players as the GBAs, which each require their own GameCube and TV to work properly. You then plug the GC/GBA cables into the Player and hook it up to the main hub GC.

Gimmie a sec, gotta draw a diagram....

This sounds crazy. You might be the only person on Earth that's tried this. :lol

I did it once, it was pretty meh. We played Four Swords Adventure, Pacman Vs. and Crystal Chronicles. The only fun we had was really with Crystal Chronicles.

Perhaps, but it might be worth it. Here is my diagram, does it look in order?

I mean, this SHOULD work right?

I'd pay good money for a WiiWare re-release of this game (and the GameCube version) that was internet enabled.

I dare say ridiculous money!

Man I want more Four Swords Adventure games. I played through the Gamecube version in one night with some friends (we used GBASPs, so not as crazy as using the GBA Player) and it was a freaking blast. An online version of FSA would be one of the most awesome things to ever exist.

It's certainly not the most practical game, but Four Swords Adventure is easily one of the most under-appreciated games of the past decade. I think very few people have ever had the opportunity to play the game to its full potential. I think a Wii/DS version of the game would make a lot more sense, as it could allow for online play and would eliminate the need for so many wires.

I've done

- Mario Kart Double Dash with 8 Players on 2 TVs
- Mario Kart Double Dash with 8 Players on ONE widescreen plasma using the source split-screen function
- Pacman VS using a Gameboy Player as a GBA
- FFCC using a Gameboy Player as a GBA

This was from some crazy time in my life when I had 2 Gamecubes in my possession.

But this is just epic. Make the four GBA-Player-TVs the same model-size, placing 2 either side of a nice big widescreen television with the main-GC plugged into it and you'd have yourself an awesome awesome photo!

edit:
OH and I'd like to add my voice to the emerging choir of voices calling for a Four Swords game on DS / Wii / both. Makes more sense now than it EVER did on Gamecube/GBA. ONLINE too. Jesus... it'd be one of the best online games ever. Stealing rupees, voting people light/dark (saying theyre good or they suck)... I WANT IT NAO.

Had somebody tried playing Mario Kart Double Dash with more than 2 GCs thru LAN?

The most we could get was 2 GC + 2 Broadband Adapters + 2 TV + 8 controllers.

8 players was the max sadly.

I wish Nintendo had built Mario Kart Wii with extensability in mind. They could have added a Double Dash DLC pack or something. The kart switching was a nice mechanic imo.

You know, now that I have a Wii and my old GC with GB players, I could try this with pacman...

I haven't actually tried the Gamecube/GBA link cable in my Wii yet. I think it does work though.

Its a shame the Wii's Ethernet adaptor doesn't function just as the BBA did for the GC -- I'd probably still play some PSO now and then!

Wasn't the max for DD LAN 16 players? I could have sworn it was....

Absolute best way to play it. I don't care if the other way is more epic, it's a million times better this way. Plus, whatever room your playing in is going to get extremely hot. I wouldn't want to sit in a room with that much electronics with 4 other people for hours. :lol

4 Swords is one of my all time favorite Zelda's and it shows that I want a proper co-op Zelda game for the Wii / DS. Wirelessly sync your DS to the Wii and have fun. It would be awesome.

Awesome, awesome JPG in the OP. :lol

Good luck with it all, post pics of results!
