Ubisoft developer on IGN boards: "someone is making a comeback"

I'd Love to talk "in-depth" about next-gen systems too, more specifically PS3 and Revolution but, as you can imagine, we're under embargo to release any details about those systems. Also, I don't want to speak on behalf of Ubisoft as to which system is going to win until they've all launched. Last thing I need is a NOA/SCEA/MS representative calling Ubisoft saying that I was bad talking their system. All I can say is - I think "somone" is back in the race.

I know people might not believe me but for anyone with IGN insider please check this up yourself for confirmation.

The user's name is PRINCE_NineOne1 and he has a VIP account.

"Developer", huh? More like paid marketing tool. These guys hang around and pimp whatever games they're tasked to pimp, and that's about all they are good for. GHOST_NineOne1 is another one of the marketing tools they have working the IGN boards.

"Hi"

I know he's legit. He usually gives away a couple copies of Ubisoft new releases on the boards. I'm not exactly what he's worked on except for all 3 PoP games this gen.

Well, obviously it's Nintendo hes talking about. I don't think any old brands are going to be revived.

Well he says "someone is back in the race", so yah its pretty obvious that its Nintendo.

No one's gonna have bigger hype than Sony, but I think Rev can outsell GameCube, especailly if it catches on in Japan and if they do position Zelda: TP as a Rev title or at least as a Rev/GC dual title. That will give them a lot more momenteum out of the gates in North America.

Sorta off-topic, but do you think the Revolution's interface will open up FPS to the Japanese audience? GTA did better over in Japan than alot of people thought it would and FPS's (also being known as a predominatly Western genre) probably might be even bigger with some kind of quarky catch for the Japanese. I mean, the genre could be reinvented by the new controller and put everyone on a more even playing ground, which I really don't know whether that was a hurdle for Japanese players or not.

No one believe the DS would dominate, they all had to eat crow.

The Revolution will dominate, and I hate Nintendo.

Japanese devs will have to make FPS titles ... and those will probably be different from what the "normal" FPS of today are.

I could see a light-gun style/action shooter with some FPS elements made by a company like Namco or Sega doing OK in Japan.

DS has done far better than many in the industry expected, but I would hardly say that it's "dominated" over PSP. Anyway, I'm more than a bit skeptical about this post.

He's legit I guess-he works for Ubisoft's marketing department. I used to talk to him waaaay back when I still posted on IGN's boards. I doubt he's had much hands on time with the Revolution though.

No, one of the main reasons japanese don't like FPS is because of motion sickness, the Rev controller can't make that go away.

While I'd like to grasp at straws like the rest of you, why is it that any time any vague positive statement is made...it applies to Nintendo? I don't get it.

Nintendo has come to mean "glimmer of hope".

How can MS be 'back in the game' when they just arrived? How can Sony be 'bck in the game' when they dominate. What else could he talking about? Sega? :lol
