Too Lazy to make my own OT for this masterpiece but we need an OT desperately to discuss this. So I may have just copied most of the guts of this from a purple website for retards

Description & Features
UFO 50 is a collection of 50 single and multiplayer games from the creators of Spelunky, Downwell, Air Land & Sea, Skorpulac, Catacomb Kids, and Madhouse. Jump in and explore a variety of genres, from platformers and shoot 'em ups to puzzle games and RPGs. Our goal is to combine a familiar 8-bit aesthetic with new ideas and modern game design sensibilities.50 BRAND NEW GAMES - These are NOT minigames or microgames! Although the size of each game varies, every one is a complete experience, from its opening title screen to its ending credits. Some are small arcade-style games but there are also larger open-world adventures and a JRPG that could take many hours to beat.
AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE - According to the story of UFO 50, the games were all created by a fictional 80s video game company that was obscure but ahead of its time. Some games are sequels to other games in the collection and various characters appear in multiple titles as part of a shared continuity.
AN INSTANT LIBRARY - All 50 games are available to play at the start! The concept was inspired by multicarts, retro collections, and the experience of going to a friend's house and perusing their game library. Jump in and out of games at a whim - exploring the collection is part of the fun!
AUTHENTIC BUT ALSO MODERN - We carefully chose what elements to modernize. Every game shares a unique 32-color palette and we took great efforts to make them look and sound like actual 8-bit titles from the 80s. On the other hand, it was important to us that UFO 50 was fun and surprising for modern players, so we chose not to limit ourselves to the genres and design conventions of the past.
VERSUS AND CO-OP PLAY - Half of the collection features local multiplayer, including co-op and versus. You can compete head-to-head in a new fighting or strategy game... or team up to beat a classic arcade game from an alternate timeline. It's great for groups!
History
As kids, Derek Yu and Jon Perry used Klik & Play to release a number of freeware games as Blackeye Software, culminating with Eternal Daughter in 2002. Fast-forward to 2016 and they wanted to make another video game together... but what game? At first, the idea was to "warm up" by making some small prototypes in GameMaker, but that idea quickly evolved into making a collection of small games instead... 50 small games, to be exact! (But as it turned out, the games wouldn't end up being that "small"...)Soon after, they invited Eirik Suhrke to join the UFO 50 project - Suhrke and Yu had previously worked together on the roguelike platformer Spelunky, with Suhrke in charge of the music and audio for the game. Together, the three brainstormed 50 games, the majority of which made their way into the final collection. Other game concepts were contributed by Ojiro Fumoto (Downwell) during the half-year he spent on the team, as well as Paul Hubans, who directed the horror adventure game Night Manor. The final member added to the core UFO 50 team was Tyriq Plummer, the creator of the roguelike platformer Catacomb Kids, who ended up co-directing several of the collection's largest games, including the first person dungeon crawler Valbrace. Although there has been specialization, the entire team has contributed design, writing, artwork, and programming to the project and have worked on each others' games, sometimes extensively.
In 2020, Suhrke and Yu took some time away from UFO 50 to release Spelunky 2, realizing that the ambitious concept of UFO 50 needed extra time to cook. Finally, at Summer Game Fest 2024, the team announced that the collection would be coming to Steam on September 18th, 9 years since the idea had first been conceived! The result was even more wild than any of them could have imagined...
