Braveheart was laughable from a historical accuracy POV, but it was (and still is) one of my favorite movies growing up.
Mel Gibson's movies from the late 80's to late 90's were pure enjoyment for me.
Apocalypto is a fantastic film smeared by no fun allowed historical accuracy nazis.
Payback is the best neo noir film in the last 20 years.
I've been keeping an eye on it for bout a year. It was a passion project of Angus Macfayden who plays the lead and also played Robert the Bruce in Braveheart but not associated with it an any other way.
Opened in UK to mixed reviews and didnt do to well, and yes an independent film entirely. Not 100% sure but haven't seen anything attaching Gibson to this
