* EA's multi-format 'Need For Speed: Underground 2' is No1 for a sixth consecutive week making it the longest standing 2004 Entertainment Software All Formats No1. Rockstar/Take 2's 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' (PS2) remains at No2 - however, with San Andreas sales down by 44% on last week it is overtaken by 'Need for Speed: Underground 2' at the top of the PS2 chart. 'Need for Speed: Underground 2' also claims the No1 spot in the Xbox Chart from 'Halo 2' and with it holding on to pole position in the Gamecube Chart, it makes a clean sweep of all the static console format charts. There are only 2 games in the Entertainment Software All Formats Top 10 that increase in sales: Ubisoft's 'Prince of Persia: Warrior Within' (PS2/XB/GC/PC) up from No6 to No3 (sales up 2%) and EA's 'Lord of the Rings: The Third Age' (PS2/XB/GC/GBA) up from No15 to No6 (sales up 44%). Post-Christmas promotional pricing has led to a number of strong climbers and re-entries. Activision's 'Shrek 2' (PS2/GBA/XB/GC) jumps from No30 to No18 due mainly to a sales increase of 76% for the GBA version, while Codemasters' 'Colin McRae Rally 2005' (PS2/XB/PC) and EA's 'Def Jam Fight for NY' (PS2/XB/GC) re-enter the Entertainment Software Top 40 at No23 and No27 respectively.

Ouch for Halo 2. Killzone is teh HaLo KiLlAh!!!1111 Nothing special other than that. I'm surprised with Sega Superstars being in the charts for more than a month, I thought it'll just bomb.

Can someone explain the Brits' love affair with anything from EA games?

The URBZ is #10 and Half Life 2 is #34???

I think the UK provides the only real glimpse into the possible dark future of videogames where quality and originality account for nothing in success. IF you thought it was bad in the US, these charts should make you rethink.

Is it also because Nintendo is nowhere to be seen on the charts?

It's incredible how Need for Speed is still on top.

It's incredible how long Sonic and Simpsons have been on.

It's incredible how much...licensed crap that is on there.

I`m surprised Halo 2 is still in the top 40. I expected it to drop out after christmas. I`m sure I`ll be right next week though.

Halo 2 will propably be the last Xbox game to even enter the top 40 in the UK.

Does anyone else in the world suffer from the 'chav' problem of society or is it only us poor Brits?

I hang my head in shame for my fellow country men.

I think the UK lags the US in terms of appreciation of original and challenging gaming content. I think the U.S. gamer is beginning to realize the overall mediocrity and unoriginality of a typical EA game. Not so yet in the UK. EA obviously has tremendous marketing and promotion machine on the ground in Europe. Someone posted earlier that in Germany, they had an EA rep in every store promoting EA titles.

EA Defense Measures Engage!

Nice talk but where's the proof? Have a whole bunch of EA titles suddenly dropped in sales? This forum certainly isn't any type of barometer of what U.S. gamers are and are not buying.

What are you people talking about? All games in top 4 are good games. And I have heard Call of Duty and LOTR are pretty good-to-average also. And everyone knows Pro Evo is a masterpiece. I guess top 10 should be all Nintendo exclusives... :P

Aww shit. My sister just bought a PS2 from GAME with Getaway and NFSU2.

Why am I never consulted in these things?

Any chance I can return at least Getaway to GAME with no receipt and ask for an exchange?

And no, she's not a chav, just pretty stupid.

She bought you a PS2 and 2 games and you're bitching?

Excuse me im off to get a swift to cane your ass.

p.s. Pretty sure you'd need a receipt.

I cry for the poor souls who bought Getaway 2.

It's the second.

And it's being given away as a late, owed present. So it's not too bad. Currently checking ebay and the like for some cheap games I've missed out on, dare I start a "recommend me PS2 games" thread?
