*UNMARKED SPOILERS ALL BOOKS* Game of Thrones |OT| - Season 6

Perhaps the first really good episode of the season. Little to nothing to criticize or shake my head over. The Sam stuff was especially well done and well acted. Although I'm not sure I understand why Sam decided to leave with a baby in the middle of the night. Surely his father knows he's going to Oldtown and will be able to intercept them at some point right?

Benjen's return was interesting. Kind of makes me wonder whether he'll return in similar fashion in Winds. I could see Coldhands dying in order to save Bran from the cave invasion, Hodor holding the door, and Bran/Meera/Summer escaping before ultimately running into Benjen.

Always figured the only possible way for Benjen to be alive so far north is with the help of the children. He must be chilling in another cave waiting for Bran's next move (in the book).

How many Valyrian steel swords do we know of in circulation in the show? I count 4 Brienne's, Tommen's, Long Claw with Jon and now Heartsbane with Sam. Am I missing any? I think they're going to play a massive part moving forward.

And two are are at the same place at the same time right now, which I'm not sure has happened before. As well as Samwell having a third that will probably be going back up there soon.

Alright, so someone explain this to me: Margaery was all like "fuck the sparrow, loras we're going to get out of this" but then the sparrow gave a boss speech and Loras was really sad so she completely changed her outlook on life and gave herself to the Faith?

I think you kinda answered your own question. I ain't buying it. Tommen is an idiot but Margaery ain't no fool.

If this is how Martin handles Dany's stuff, then all I can do is shake my head.

"All right everybody get in the fucking boats."

If Margaery is still secretly with the Lannisters, she can just command her army to rebel against Tommen. Why not just say right then and there, let my brother go?

If she's legitimately a follower, she could totally tell Tommen about Olenna's poisoning of Joffrey.

I need 1,000 ships! Is there anyone here who can build 1,000 ships? Anyone at all? Preferably a sea-faring people with experience in this sort of thing?

"Euron!"

What?

"I said you're on! I will totally help you find this person."

Man, the show has really ruined Jaime. Wtf.

Yeah now that he is no longer a Kingsguard one of my favorite parts of the book is basically not going to happen. I was losing hope after Loras didn't end up a Kingsguard but now its been too long and the scene can't happen. I think its from Storm of Swords when Jaime gets back to command the Kingsguard he basically shits all over the other Kingsguard in their quarters, telling one of them to taste every meal to ensure the safety of the King. God damn I loved that part, oh well.

I don't think we know Margaery's end game. I definitely don't think she's a convert. Knowing Margaery as we do, what do you think is more likely? She's conniving or easily persuaded? I don't buy it for a second.

I think in aDwD they said coldhands would wait outside the tree cave because the dead aren't allowed in. I'm assuming he'll escort them out when Hodor dies as well, since he's patrolling around waiting for Bran to become Raven.

So why does Arya choose to spare that lady exactly? She simply felt sympathy for her?

Well yeah, but it's more that she doesn't feel comfortable murdering for hire. Or at least that she ALSO doesn't feel comfortable with that. I think that the play made her remember that she had a list, and highlighted the reasons for that list.

If Dany decides to leave for Westeros then what's the point of any of the scenes in Mereen this season? Give Dinklage screentime so they can justify paying him?

edit: lol wrong thread

GoT related: This was a pretty mediocre bridge episode, wasn't a fan of Arya's plot, or turning Benjen into Coldhands when GRRM specifically wrote "NO".

She's not totally heartless. I think Jaqen knows Waif will lose against Arya and killing her would ascend her quickly among faceless ranks.

I think they're just trying to get rid of the Faceless subplot rather than some con/test on Jaqen's part.

Maybe she's wanting to use the faith for her own gains, but doesn't yet realize what it will cost her.

The Waif's whole character on this show just makes no sense. Why does she hate Arya so much, to the point where she made Jaqen promise that she could kill her? This is all pretty much the opposite of what the Faceless Men are supposed to be about.

Dany is horrible.

I hope to god that she somehow dies.

Jon needs to stab her in the throat while Bran takes control of all her dragons.

Pls.

Pretty sure the Faceless Men aren't about killing some actress because an understudy is jealous.

I hope Dany just whistles for Tyrion and her army to come from the gates of Mereen and say "fuck it I don't care to try here anymore, off to Westeros".

Wild speculation about Bran's vision:
what if the White Walkers are finally stopped in King's Landing by burning all the wildfire that is still buried?

This season has been great outside of the Dorne trash, didn't think they had it in them

Also feels like "sorry we were going to rush to the end only to bring back all this stuff we were planning on cutting" but then HBO made the show 8 seasons

The Faceless men kill anyone, for any reason, the only thing that matters is that they are paid.

The faceless men code hasn't made sense since its inception. Jaqen straight up tells Arya in season 2 to join him so she can take revenge on her enemies, so she does, and he says she can't.

I was hoping for Stoneheart last week after they mentioned Brienne going to the riverlands but I'm not convinced it will happen. Even with the BWB name drop after that. I just think we would have heard some kind of leak about Michelle Fairley filming if it was happening. They couldn't possibly keep that a total secret, can they? And they definitely wouldn't get some other actress instead, right? That would be really stupid.

If it does happen, I think it'll be the season finale "oh shit" moment.
Most of the filming leaks happen from extras or bystanders watching large outdoor scenes. A Lady Stoneheart reveal would just be a quick scene between two major characters in a small room. There's no reason to expect that to leak.

In the preview
they show Theon and Yara all the way in Volantis. Since it looks like they're zipping around in 747s rather than boats, I think Dany will get to Westerns pretty fast using those vessels.

I really liked the fact that the lady Tarly's stood up for Sam. Outside of that the episode was dull and the Dany shit at the end didn't speak to me. On top of that Fey Maysay's going to die and I really don't want that to happen.

Obviously I don't know, but from everything I've gathered, Mereen is the most obvious "filler" that's come from extending the books and removing the time skip.

I think it's in line with the speeches Jaqen has given Arya in the past; it's very "ours is not to reason why; ours is but to do and die" (except without the poem's irony on it). But it's not in line wwith the guild's history of "anti-slavery freedom fighters" he told her about last week.

There seemed to be shots of the wildfire actually exploding, which doesn't fit with what we know of past events. Maybe he saw flashbacks of them making the wildfire, and flash forwards of it going off? They chose to include that for a reason, I think the wildfire is important.

Also, it's weird that show Arya has not successfully completed a mission. Book Arya takes out the insurance salesman, and doesn't seem to have anywhere near as much reticence about being an assassin as show Arya has. And unlike Jaime, where they can always have him sour on Cersei at a later time, there's no going back to get the coolness around death and violence tha book Arya gets as a faceless man.
