Unplugging PC Question?

Got an Abit KV8 Pro MotherBoard. When I shut down the post code display LED stays lit as does the Optical Mouse and Possibly the Keyboard too. Would unpluging the PCs power cord ,everytime I shut it off, have any bad long term effects?

The reason why I want to shut it all off is because this morning when I powered it on there were a few adware programs (browser helpers, webdeals, webcoupons or something like that). They were not there when I shut down yesterday. On my old PC I would never get "infected" with these things. I have the same Programs installed and my browsing habits have not changed.

I use Firefox for everything except windows update.

Leaving your PC in standby or off won't get adware or spyware installed on your PC.

Seems more like you're putting it into Stand By mode, not shutting it down.

Nope. Newer motherboards continue to supply power to some peripherals. When my PC is turned off, the LED on my optical mouse stays lit as well as the LAN connection unless I turn it off from the back.

I'll leave it the way it is for a few days to see if any other adware appears. Thanks for the replies.

There has to be a BIOS switch somewhere, thankfully my motherboard doesn't keep any USB lines active, if it did I'd go nuts. That's just excessive unless you have a very specific need (e.g., a USB 2.0 device that needs to charge, even with the computer off.)
