If I already own a PS VR, can I swap out my old Processor Unit with the updated one?
Because the cables of CUH-ZVR1 and CUH-ZVR2 are different, you cannot swap the Processor Units.
The horror. The horror! This has HDR passthrough
Mine does not
return it quickly!
The breakout box will sound like a jet after you play for 24 hours non stop. Now the real question is, what have they secretly downgraded?
They really couldn't make an adapter to use the new box with old cables? :/

That's kinda shitty to replace launch units in less than a year. Christ.
Definitely not "too soon", I expected this half a year ago, to mitigate the HDR fail. A pity that the new box is not compatible with the older headset, but all the improvements are useful.
Anyone expecting major changes were illusional, this is still a console. And there you just simply can't make the platform as mushy as in the PC world. PSVR will not functionally change much before the PS5 generation.

It isn't replacing anything, just streamlining the user experience. Less cable management overall, and no need to move cables for HDR.
link to that switch you bought?
And...uhh a pic of your set-up?
It's this one,
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00W6XRCKA/
Got it after reading this article,
https://www.outofcontrol.online/perfectish-setup-ps4-pro-ps4-psvr-hdr/
It can be a bit picky about HDMI cables, but I got some of these at the same time,
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NEMIY2M/
And had no problems.
Not at home so can't take a picture.
Didn't bundle a camera with every unit by default cause a handful of "their best customers" already had the $40 peripheral. #4thegamers
Updates $400+ peripheral less than 1 year later with major QOL and functionality improvements forcing "their very best customers" to repurchase said $400 peripheral. #Fuckthegamers.
Probably has an updated IMU and tweaked lights to fix the drift and wobble as well.

Those problems can be solved by placing your head on a flat surface while it's booting up.
As a early PSVR adopter, I can't help but feel disappointed about how Sony is handling the PSVR situation, I feel bad enough to never be an early adopter on anything Sony related, shameful.

This is very positive. Sony are actually manufacturing a new version, it means they intend to support PSVR for the foreseeable future. This is the best outcome, updated to show Sony are still interested, but not crazily changed to make the old version inferior.
The device is one year old. If you are upset about HDR passthrough, fine, aside from that, huh?

Yeah I mean that's all I care for right now (assuming they have also fixed the PS4 Pro blackout issue too) Given that at the announcement of PSVR they were also touting about the HDR update, it was just fucking bonkers to not have it pass through the unit.
This is guaranteed to piss off people that already have PSVR. Too soon, Sony.

The Japanese blog post mentions the release date in Japan (Oct 14th) and improved Move controllers, which will be sold at a later date.
New Move controllers will have micro usb and will be "improved" in some ways, but there are no details yet.
Edit:
About the move part - the phrasing they used could mean that they're improving the features or it could mean that the change to micro USB is the improved feature. Hard to tell, will have to wait for more details.
Please please please include analog sticks on the moves this time

The only annoying thing is the HDR pass through upgrade not being available to gen 1 owners, the rest are nice but not going to push me into trading up my launch unit.
This kind of mindset says you'd do well to not be an early adopter.

Update or not, it's not like I'm going to use mine any more or less than I already do.
