A second delivery attempt was made at 1:43 P.M. FedEx delivered, at about 10:30 A.M., and left, on the apartment security door, a note saying (with my apartment number) "WE LEFT YOUR PACKAGE NEXT DOOR AT RESTARAUNT."

Why the UPS driver couldn't do the fucking same is beyond me. It looks like he even began to write "resta" in the comments box, then crossed it out, and I guess decided he didn't want to bother.

Now I'm on the phone with UPS trying to get this fucker to come back.

Short of an act of God, the drivers rarely come back the same day, no matter how much whining, yelling, and general kvetching you do. If you absolutely, positively need it today, the best you can probably do is try to pick it up at the UPS depot. Otherwise, leave a note or something.

It's a 40 pound package, probably quite large as it's the 24 inch widescreen Dell LCD, and I live in Manhattan with no car. I can't pick it up.

My hope though, is that since this is Manhattan, he's probably just a block or two away. Apparently the phone rep sent an urgent message to the delivery center to contact the driver. We'll see what happens.

Actually, these past few weeks have been pretty bad.

I don't know if I mentioned it, but my DVD shelf with 300 or so DVDs snapped in half a few nights ago at 1AM.

Then I ordered another shelf, a different one, which Staples delivered yesterday, and I don't like the design.

Staples will be picking both up and giving refunds though.

However I also saw on Staples.com that the glass computer desk I bought from them on 2/20 is now $40 cheaper on sale, and they only price match for 14-days.

Does every consumer experience end badly for you?

Either yes or you whine much too much.

did it require a signature release? Lots of big / expensive stuff shipped by companies is shipped with a required signature release by a recepient at the same address (i.e. they can't leave it at another building). If the company requires that, there's nothing UPS can do.

He didn't check the signature required box, so apparently not, and he's just being lazy. Plus, that only covers one of the three packages then.

Alright!

Just got my packages!

Driver was on the same avenue, two streets away, though I had to physically carry them back. In doing so, with the boxes stacked on one another, up to my nose, I was walking slowly, but surely home, and this woman, who was ahead of me and crossed my path to presumably cross at the crosswalk, suddenly turned out of nowhere as I got there, hitting her face into the boxes, sending two of them tumbling down.

Then another person helped me stack the boxes back up, and noticed I was struggling, she took one of them and walked me back to the apartment.
