I've been looking to upgrade my computer for well... since 2 years ago probaly. Anyway, 3.0 ghz processors are really cheap now and I wanted a motherboard that my existing radeon 9500 pro can actually be used with. I got super confused by all this new PCI express stuff even after reading the highly technical press release. Can an AGP graphics card still be used with intels newest lineup of motherboards? I ask becuase ever motherboard they offer that contains DDR2 support has only PCIe and no mention of AGP comes up , is there still an AGP slot on these motherboards or do I need to buy an older motherboard to still use that video card ?

I only wanted to buy processor( P4 3.0ghz E), memory(possibly a gig of ddr 533mhz) and a motherboard to put stuff on- my 80 gig harddrive and soon to be purchased dvd burner along with the 9500 pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

U would have to choose an older model motherboard because your card wont run in the PCIe slots on the newest Intel Boards.

I see... are there any reasonable graphics card solutions right now that use PCIe ? It seems awful pointless to have a pretty state of art motherboard that cant' even get a decent graphics card put into it.

should be able to get a 6600 GT in a week or so.

the thing with PCIe is being able to do SLI, but there aren't any dual PCIe boards out right now, at least i dont think.

I looked at ATI's website , it seems you can get the X300, X600 and X800 in PCIe right now, considering the 9500 pro is nearly a year and a half old and it was a middle teir card... I'm gonna assume that the x300 is prolly it's equivalent....

also, jesus H christables at the pricetag on that X800!

NO NO NO...
X300 is their 9250
X600 is their 9600
X800 is their X800.

Wait for the 6600GT or the X700XT. The vanilla 6600 and X700 will be about 139 - 149. Don't touch any of the x300's or x600's.
