Picked it up today.

Corny in a way that makes even MGS3 blush, but if all that crap makes Kojima a genius, then From Software make him look like a lost little boy.

This is B-gaming at it's best/worse - fantastic stuff.

THE ROBOT SUIT HAS THE PRESEDENTIAL SEAL ON IT!!!
YOU GET TO FLY IN AIRFORCE ONE!

The initial scene where the presedent in the suit jumps out of the top floor of the Whitehouse on to the grass infront , looks to the camera and says

"Welcome..... to the Whitehouse!"

is COMEDY PLATINUM.

The game is pretty kick ass so far too.
Thumbs up all round.

voices are in english, but there is a lot of Japanese text.

to be honest, i pay very little notice and me and BlackAce managed to breeze through the first 3 stages.

Just received my copy (can't believe how fast my last few orders via EMS were shipped), I'll give it a try tonight but if the final game is like the demo it should not be a problem to play it since the voices are in english. Some would argue it's not english, but it's better than japanese if you want to understand what's going on :p
 
I'll wait for more impressions, but it looks like I'll end bitting the bullet. I'll be damned if this game gets a PAL release someday.
 
I was going to say - me and Blackace just don't see this game getting released in it's current state - especially in the US.

You kill US troops for a start.
You are the PRESIDENT in a mech suit - which has the presidential seal on it!
There is bad CNN parody.
You smash up cities and areas across america
It accuses the president regarding terrorism, dealing with his oil buddies, corporate corruption etc....

I was wondering if this game has any form of regional lock-out... I know that Fable didn't have any, and am currently hoping (through reading this little topic here) that MWC 'suffers' the same fate. Otherwise I'm going to import it right now! :D

And just to take the above post a little further, can anyone who has the game and access to an un-modded PAL Xbox please test for region locking on it? At the moment it appears to be completely wishful thinking, but I'm all for getting one's hopes up only to have reality come crashing back down.
 
Sorry I had no time to check the game before. Sorry again to say that it's indeed region locked and will only boot with my japanese Xbox. It won't work on the euro one, so it will be the same with a US one (it's either all zones, or only one zone).
 
Yeah the music fits the game perfectly.
I just played through the first level. The dialogs and story are so outrageous that it *HAS* to be a design choice. I mean having air force one take off from under that big water thing (sorry no offense, I do not know the name of this) and knock some part of the white house, while the US president is yelling "LET'S PARTYYYYYYYYYY" is just too much even for the most brain dead designer out there.
I was laughing from the beginning to the end of the level :)
I'll put videos on my site tomorrow, starting of course with my usual "first 10 minutes" feature and maybe a bit more.

Too bad... I'm really looking forward to this one, and I am very afraid of a dumbed (no pun intended) down version for PAL territories....

And in one fell stroke, Blimblim made Baby Gorey cry. Damnit. Be interesting to see if it makes the transition to the US with the over-the-top presidential stuff intact- can't see it happening, but one can certainly hope.

I don't think the content of the game would keep it from getting a US release... I mean I know things have gone bad with Bush running things, but last time I checked, we were still free.

Really, it comes down to localization. A publisher would have to hire someone to localize it and then hope that the revenue from US sales would turn a profit on their investment.
 
I know GAF can be set up to ban or censor out certain words - is there a way to change any instances of "Metal Wolf Chaos" or "metal wolf chaos" to METAL WOLF CHAOS? The full majesty of this game must be resplendent in every message wherein its holy title appears.

Heh, I wasn't trying to imply that it wouldn't get a US release due to the presidential humor. You're right, it's how much of that stuff gets left in during localization that I'm curious about. Hopefully, all of it
 
I've just put online my impressions of the game, along with a 15 minutes videos of the first level and menu interface.

I love this game so far, it's been a long time since a game had me laughing like this :)

If you want me to make videos of the next levels (level 2 is basically an extended version of the demo level with limited weapons so it's not that interesting), feel free to ask.
 
i found the game a bit boring and repetitive and the controls a little cumbersome and the graphics look worse than the first videos i saw of it

The second DNN video after level 2 is just incredible, the voice acting is so perfectly bad it's almost scary :)

During TGS the game's producer said the game would be out in the US with a full online mode (1 vs 1 IIRC). So I guess it's already planned for a release.
 
Hahaha, there are even jokes about the Florida recount in some later levels. This game is insane !
One word of warning, it gets very hard after the first 2 missions. Unless I missed something of course, but I've had to restart some very long missions quite a few times already. The voice-overs when you die are a blast though :D
