Bah. We moved out of our house because we're knocking it down to build a new one on the same property. For the time being, we're living 8 or so miles away, and we decided to switch our high-speed ISP from Adelphia to Verizon.

So anyway, we called them to hook up the phone line and get the DSL package three weeks ago. they told us there would be no problem, and they'd have the service ready and we'd have our package by two mondays ago.

The week it was supposed to arrive came and went, but we didn't really have the time to call and question them as we were moving. When we got the change to call last week, they told us the reason nothing had come yet was because the phone line had to be hooked up for 8 business days before DSL could be set up. The package was now supposed to arrive this past wednesday.

Wednesday comes and goes, and my mother called on thursday after having to listen to me flip out because our damned internet wasn't ready yet. At first we were told that we had never odered DSL, but after talking to three different people, it turns out that our package was now stuck in 'pending' mode, something neither person in the last two calls, or the two people on this call, had informed us would happen. The lady then told my mother that she cancelled the other order, placed a new one, and the package would arrive next tuesday, but that the service wouldn't be hooked up until next thursday. This was getting ridiculous.

Then yesterday afternoon, a delivery man arrived with our cancelled DSL package. The service still won't be set up until next thursday, however, and there's still a chance we'll get another package on tuesday.

Thanks, Verizon.

And thank you college for today being the only internet access I've had in two weeks.

I don't make decisions in the house. My dad got fed up with Adelphia dropping his webpage without warning when they stopped providing website hosting, so he decided to go with DSL.

No amount of begging from me would change his mind.
