VF5 Location Test Thread! PPPK AOK!

"- tons of new stages now. Lots of remade stages from VF2. If you want to know, yes, Shun's stage is back, but no bridge. There's also Jeffry's stage from VF2 remade. All of the stages look fucking AMAZING. One stage in particular is in a jungle setting (I have no idea whose stage it is), but it's surrounded by trees in the foreground, and in the background you can see giant waterfalls surrounding the area (think FFX's FMV sequences but without the spirits floating around). Other stages include a snowy mountain, an excavation site (complete with muddy water that ripples according to the character's movements), and a night time city. Anyone who dares compares VF's stages to DOA is going to be shocked. the difference is literally night and day."

What do you say to that YellowAce?
 
Sounds great! I just hope to get the chance to play it in an arcade one day. It's not the same playing it at home, and most people I know won't play VF (or SF for that matter)against me - not that I'm any good, just a little better than them...

But chances of finding an arcade with VF5 seem pretty slim around here!

That makes a big difference alone. The GPU in the xbox didn't even support SM2.0, IIRC.

Nope, they've progressed to GF7/DX10 iirc. We're still waiting to hear on GC to REV details, but the fact it's getting a completely new GPU design is promising on that front... visually, I think you'll be able to expect a similar progression.
 
Visually, this game should be 100% identical on PS3...


At best, lindberg is using an nVidia GF7800GTX, but my guess is its a GF 6800U....

And CELL would be a good match for Pentium 4, to say the least :)

I'd say it's a good bit more than a slightly upgraded XBox if it's sporting a P4 processor. The XBox is basically running a modified extremely old Celeron.

Sega is testing my patience with this.
We get assets and info for use in magazines, are under NDA until the 17th and then they go and have a test version with the new girl, we ask em if that means the NDA is lifted and we get news that we still cant use the info we have until AOU.
And im like, some of that info will get out from the test, its not like the test happens in a vacuum.
Sigh.
Oh well.

Also, can I have some more details on the changes to the movement system, please?
 
Is anyone here actually good at Virtual Fighter?

I mean. When I played it in Japan I realized, you either:

1. Suck at VF
or
2. You are Japanese


I was getting my ass kicked by teenage girls...

I beat a Japanese kid once and he gasped that a white guy in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Japan had some skills in VF. But then he rematched me and kicked my ass :(
 
Brief replay clip of Akira beating Vanessa. This is probably the highest quality VF5 vid that's been seen to date. Alas it's only about 8 or 9 seconds at 17 megs, but you take what you can get.

Shinobi: Wow, that shaky cam vid is the best video of the game to date. The lighting looks really nice. And it looks like there's no cloth clipping into the characters.
 
goddamn that's the slowest downloading file i've seen in a while! but i echo everyone else's sentiments here.. that is seriously some of the smoothest animation i've ever seen. I hope the cloth-clipping thing holds true as well! That's some really impressive stuff!

The lighting reacts way too realistically for anyone to notice the plastic-effect visible in screenshots as well, i think.

I've got VF2/saturn and VF3 DC ... and i've never really gotten to a level of competency that i'm happy with (compared to my old street fighter days) ... but right now just watching this is making me want to splash out on a ps2 just to get/play VF4EVO, and train myself up for this beast!

I have to agree. VF5 graphically demolishes DOA4. No need to talk about the gameplay because that department has already been decided.

Yes well the difference is that I want to enhance it by stretching to 16:9 and then butcher it by adding a watermark. :P
 
Ahhhh, you are infact right that it does look a lot better in motion....... Combo's in that game still don't flow together though..... Very jerky looking....... :-/
 
I'm getting a 1.8K download on the T-3 at work. It will probably be done about the time I'm ready to leave for the day. :lol
